I love a good crowd-pleaser amid a commercial wave of cynicism, especially one directed by Ron Howard, starring Russel Crowe, scored by Thomas Newman. And the "true story" angle always helps.

one of the most well acted films ever made, this is a touching sports masterpiece in an era where sports movies are all cliche and predictable. brilliant. i had to take off a full star because of the inaccurate and unfair treatment of max baer in the film, but other than this p...( read more)oint this film is perfect. if ron howard hadnt directed it i can only assume that the people in the story would have been treated more fairly.

A predictable, clichéd, formulaic story of one man?s struggle against adversity. Not usually my cup of tea, but I thought this was quite good! I have a lot of niggles with its direction and continuity but overall, it?s a good Ron Howard film.

Muy buena. Triste como la fregada (y eso que la fregada es triste). Casi como para cortarse las venas con un bolillo (pero con lo tostadito).

Russell Crowe does a fantastic job in this movie. I appreciate how devoted Jim J. Braddock was to his wife and 3 children, made me admire him all the more.
