Did anyone notice there was a monster in this movie?
what a disastor of a film
Cloverfield was a pretty good movie all and all. Besides the hundreds of point of view shots and the camera bouncing around every five seconds it was a pretty good movie. I thought that it was very clever and smart the way they made this movie. Despite me not being a fan of the camera shots and the way they did the camera work you might be a fan. I just thought that the beginning was boring and the ending was bad. The actors did a great job for the roles they had to play. I also thought that some of the messages and themes aimed toward this movie were great. I also loved what the characters did for each other in this movie. So in conclusion if you like bouncing cameras, and big monsters then i recommend this movie for you.
How is this movie Cloverfield. what kind for movie is clover. *
i thought it was fucking shit :L
the camera was annoying and made me feel dizie , it had crap acting, and i wont be watching the sequal :L
i enjoyed the film. i liked the fact that we get to see it from the peoples perspective.
i was just wondering at the end of the film during the credits what does it say?
if any1 knows what is says could you let me know i think it said "what now" but im not quite sure
Natalie xoxoxoxo
hated it, shit story line, shit ending. Not looking forward to the sequel and when it comes out i will not see it.
this movie was way to predictable!
It was okay, worth a watch but it didn't really live up to expectations. Maybe it was because everyone was making so much of it? The party bit was a little bit long, but it was alright.
i thought the first few scenes at the party was too long and could have been shorter, maybe more action with the millitary, and the ending wasnt too brilliant, not a bad movie but also not the best one either
look , i was wondering thinking about , how ?? i mean how does he do ?? 1 camara , all the movie . it is cool , the actions is just in the right moment , it was not what i was waiting for but anyway , Matt Reeves keep that idea . I'm waiting for your next movie (directing) . good
After reading some of the comments on here, I have to day this film is much more effective if you watched it in theaters (as in comparison with the DVD). Personally, I can't compare it to The Blair Witch Project (seeing that I haven't seen it), but the intensity of the film is what I responded to, and how surreal it all seems. If they do make a sequel, I hope its on the origin, somehow, and maybe with less video camera style, and rather make a more traditional piece.
I should have taken some motion sickness tabs in watching this film. A Blair Witch Wanna Be film with the filming method of a jerky video camera which was so distracting. Some scenes very illogical which resulted in injury and death to some of the people in the film. I felt the characters in this movie were not smart in that every move they made was a bad one. On the othr side of the coin, why do friends follow one person who seems to lead them right into harms way. Perhaps individuality survival scenes would have been better. It is just like if one person jumps in the river everyone jumps in. There seems to be a possibility that there may be a Part 2. I think those who haven't seen it should wait and see it on cable TV.
Cloverfield was better than what I expected, and although, the camera work got a little tough to deal with, I couldn't see this movie work any other way.
What I found irritating though, how the film followed just one group of people. How far could they have traveled in the course of one night? But the monster was always right where they were. A little too coincidental. But according to the extras on the DVD, the monster is just a baby that was confused and scared and that's why it was rampaging across New York. It would have been better if it was shot from different people with cameras, maybe.
But since seeing this, now I'm kinda interested in knowing more. Where did it come from? If it was just an infant monster, where was the parent/s and why was it dropping those smaller monsters? Secrets for the seqeuls, I guess.
I totally think this movie is a must see if you like monsters in general or is you just like movies i could see almost anyone liking this movie
So I finally saw this movie and I was impressed. The actors were largely unknown (although Lizzy Caplan should be recognizable) but I thought the performances were pretty solid. Better than some very well known "actresses" (cough,cough... Hilton... cough). Don't let someone's lack of renown sway your opinion. Anyways, the monster design was less than inspired, but the action was sufficiently exciting. Some scenes were truly awe-inspiring and the events that unfold make you yearn to see what happens next. I also quite like the approach the film-makers had when they kept much of the information about the creature from the audience. After all, it was just following the path of random civilians caught up in the mess. Good film that nailed what it was going after. I recommend you go in to see this with your head not up your ass. Then, make you judgment accordingly whether you like it or not. Any movie is better that way.
After reading the comments made i was shocked by the personal comments not the reviews(burymeinblack3 esp) the size of your collection doesn't make you ruler of all that you see. Everyone is allowed their own opinion, thats the point of film, theatre & media. You could have 1 DVD and you would still be entitled to say how you feel. Some find that camera work sickening (like blairwitch) some don't. Some thought it was great, some didn't. Write how it affected you. A professional reviewer is looking for the objective at action, story and character development, story arcs, art direction, writing, cinematography and a whole load of other things. Then they add how they felt about it. They give an opinion. And as for the 'respect your elders' bit then i out age you with just as many videos & dvds. Also i work in theatre, tv and film so i am putting my ideas and passions into my life. No need for bad language. Try to say something personal, polite & constructive.
people should use punctuation marks they shouldnt keep their sentences running on and on and on and on without even the courtesy of some capital letters there is a reason for the english grammar and syntax we learn in school no matter how profound our message is it will always be marred without the proper use of language mechanics
If you got motion sick watching this movie you are weak. And if you watch after the credits you learn where the monster comes from, I didnt see it but its said to be there. Pst, it came from space.
it was a good movie but it gave me a headache becase of the the camera movie so much but otherwise it was really good
I thought about it noticing your all under 19 or most I have over 2000 dvds respect your elders I think i know what Im talking about when it comes to film. If you can't give positive feedback to this go see hannah montana like everyone else the cam made it different like abba or the guy before him or her said without it it just be worst then the remake of godzilla. so FUCK OFF grow up and realize if you made a movie you would suck so thank you. Be gratful that we have what we have.
All I and I repeat I can say is I love this movie amazing. I thought this type of flick was dead and buried. But then they added the video camera which added to the affect. But rather then me babble on from what I read people have no taste in movies anymore. When Hannah Montana makes money off of a dumb concert movie Im sorry society is on a downfall. Respect movies like this because there soon going to be extinct.
The biggest let down in movie histroy. The monstetr looked ok, the acting was worst then "Saw" acting. the Camara makes you wana puke. like come on, i even waited after the credits hoping there mite be a real ending but no. Then when i was in the theater this kids leaving get the balls to say that this was better then Godzilla, Godzilla was so much better and Godzilla could kick the crap out of that monster. So in the end i give this movie 2 stars because one i like hyped it up that was good and i like a good monster movie , but im being kind i should have given it 1 star. So cloverfield is Eye gauging fun and if they make a second it better be good or i will kill JJ Adrams
you idiots saying you threw up or saying the "wobbly-cam" ruined the film, get over it, it made the film better.
dude who said it was nothing unique: name one other movie that has "wobbly-cam"
guys seriously, if it was in normal screenage, it would just be like any other movie anyones ever seen about a monster, the wobbly cam made it look so much more real. i loved the movie, and i recommend everyone who hasnt, to go see it, its my all-time favourite movie.
TIP: sit near the back, the people who are saying they got sick sat in the front rows.
