    The monster was pointless lol
It had great action scences and effects !
I was hooked .. I wasnt impressed with the ending but I still found it to be quite entertaining.
I loved the handy cam through the whole film.
Thought it was unique and added a sense of reality.
    Well done.

to be honest, i realllly liked it. I thought that there was a good story, and defiantly some great mega-monster scenes. When you watch the previews on TV, it looks like the people are running around and screaming every moment of the movie, but its not like that. Its equally spread out, and thats another reason why I like it so much. One thing that defiantly suprised me was the monster. I thought for sure it was Godzilla, but it was more like a cross between a marine iguana and a gorilla. Very creepy, thats for sure. I do think that others should watch it. It might be better than you think.

What can I say... This movie sucked so bad I have so much to say to ruin this terrible film. Okay, first of all wtf was the cam-corder all about? The WHOLE movie was captured with that unstabled camera. First 20 minutes of this movie was all drama and boring dialogue, I thought I was gonna walk out of the room. The dude shooting the "document" was drunk all through the film, he could not just hold the camera steady enough to see what was going on. Also, those little bugs that they didn't know was spiders! How could they not of known those white crawling things were spiders... The monster was just plainly walking through the whole city it seemed. The special effects were alright and was the best part for the film. Those who think this film was awesome you're probably just got of the mental hospital.

    an experimental movie gone wrong!
its really a bad idea to have a disaster-with-very-huge-monster film to shoot on a single small handheld camera!

all that shaking and running makes me sooo dizzy that i cant enjoy the film!

maybe its okay if you watch it on TV but on a wide screen??

    very very bad idea!

they should have put a warning sign on the movie entrance:

WARNING! MAY CAUSE MASSIVE DIZZINESS AND VOMITING! PLEASE SHUT YOUR EYES!..OR WAIT TILL THE DVD COMES OUT!

Iwas ill! :( silly hand held camera concept! worked for Blair witch because of the darkness! but if Im ill after watching a movie I consider that a bad thing! and the fact that I'd to look at the ground for 50% of it didn't help either!" THe beginning was too long! It bored people cause you knew what was to come and the waiting didn't create and suspention, I found that you didn't feel connected to any of the characters , probably because of the filming technique! so there was no emotional connect to any of them! which was a shame because one of the reasoning behind the use of a handicam was so you'd see it from their perspective but I don't think it worked!" it was too much like hard work to watch! my eye's ached! yes the monster was cool, but in my opinion it was an "EPIC" movie but just wasn't EPIC! I would not recommend this! Unless your bulimic and want help with puking"

Stupid, unoriginal, cliched, overly-simplisitc and INCREDIBLY UNREALISTIC movie with a terrible plot and no characterisation. It was like a combination of 'The Blair Witch Project' and 'Godzilla', only worse.

    It's popularity boggles the mind.

I didn't know what exactly to expect from this film. But I thought it looked interesting. So I watched it at the cinemas and I didn't realise the whole film would be recorded by hand-held camera. And I didn't mind it really. Through the film I started to love the idea of the hand held because it felt real!. So real that by the end of the film. I was scared that when I left the Cinema something quite like what happened in that film would happen for real. I thought the cast were brillant and as I've never seen any of these actors before it gave you more of a normal people feel instead of "That's John Travolta, brilliant actor". This movie was one of the best Monster-Terrorism films I've seen :D. 5 stars on my end. Oh and it was great that they didn't show EVERYTHING, because well it was suppose to be you watching this video I guess, and ofcourse you can't get everything on video.

Let me start with the positive that the film has a realistic feeling of a disaster happening in the city & the acting was good.

Here comes the negative-First 20 mins of the film was torture with the party scene. Not much story ,annoying dialog, shaky camera(Not a big deal),too much explosions, fireballs but not a good view of the monster & the the rest of the creatures that you can't hardly see in the dark scenes.Hardly any action with these monsters. Most you get is people running & screaming just reacting to the attack.I really thought it was gonna be like a Godzilla type of film.I wasn't too crazy about The Host but i have to say even The Host was much better film than Cloverfield.I was gonna give this at least 2 stars but the ending left me speechless.Even the ending is bad.

This movie was so over hyped. The effects were cool but thats about it. The monster wasnt very scary. It has a Snakes on a Plane feel to it. Gaining all this support online and not delivering a decent movie.

    I liked this movie...
I mean of course it had cruddy sound...IT WAS SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS TAKEN ON VIDEOCAMERA!!!
It was scary in the fact that you knew what was coming...
It was surprising when you saw the mini monsters for the first time...
I mean I was expecting the minis to be EXACTLY like the Arachnids from Starship Troopers...
But in a way they were somewhat cute with they're puppie dog eyes...
Yet still so menacing with claws and teeth...
    I LOVED this movie..
It was very similar to The Host in that it followed the main charachters more than the monster...
Just not the type of movie to see if you have motion sickness...

Total crap! 5 seconds of monster and too much Hollywood overacting.

AND, it's NOT even a friggin' monster movie. Monster movies focus on the MONSTER. This was a simple uncomplex love story that happens during a monster attack. Plain and simple. Another thing I hated about it was the way the sound was done. There is never any excuse for poor sound in a Hollywood movie. Did they bother to use lav microphones on the actors? Did they boom mic anything? It sure doesn't sound like it. It sounds like they used a shotgun mic and recorded whatever noise they could hear. Again, that's not realism, that's poor directing. This movie is wrong on not only story and acting levels, is wrong on production levels as well. I am not one that needed backstory because I've been following the viral stuff since July. But, it didn't matter because they didn't use one shred of it in the movie. Don't call it high concept or innovative because it's neither.

I really liked Blair Witch because it had somewhat of a story AND it was realistic. My main beefs with this movie was that the characters were flat and uninteresting. The dialogue was shitty.......Rob says "Hud" 17 times as he's getting chewed by the monster. Hud says six times in a row..."dude, tell me that's not where she lives." He also says "Rob, we have to leave this electronics store." four times in a freakin' row. This isn't realism, it's poor dialogue. I sure would have liked to have seen the raw emotion on Beth's face when they were pulling her off of that re-bar but we couldn't because of the hand cam "effect". That wasn't the first emotional moment that we lost because of the "innovative" style. We've come to expect great stories and intricate detail when it comes to all things JJ Abrams and crew and this just fell way short.

Unfortunately for you, your porn allusion is inane and irrelevant. Monster movies are a particular genre with a particular style and schtick. This is a monster movie that's been done far differently than any other. Yes, there have been other immersive (i.e.: Blair Witch) movies made. In a way, there's nothing new under the sun. Did you go this way when Blair Witch came out? If you're going to continue to harp on about porn, well, maybe that's what you ought to watch, my dear man.

Good film. Just like 9/11. When events like this happen there is always someone with a camera phone, video cam, you name it. In this day and age, everything is caught on tape. Having some creature rip roaring thru New York and catching it on film from the perspective of some average joes in the city was awesome and realistic. All this took place during the course of one evening so nobody knew anything. What was the creature? Where did it come from? The sea? Yea... but why attack the city? What were the spider-like parasites dropping off it? Did they carry some sort of disease? I don't know, maybe, because there were reactions after being attacked. All this was awesome because over the course of one evening, you're not going to know things. Hell they probably wouldn't know anything until months later.

HUD was my man!!! I could only imaging getting caught in something like this with my most annoying homie! Yikes! hehehehe
