    I love how condescending people are towards those that didn't like this POV POS. They make comments like "I'll explain it and I'll go slow." When they know that they are typing and can't go slow. Oh, I get it. You are trying to be ground breaking funny and sarcastic.

    It's not innovative. Like I said before, pornography has been doing this type of film making for years, and that shaky cam issue wasn't the problem with this movie.

    When it comes to JJ Abrams and company, you expect an intricate story filled with interesting characters and a strong plot. This movie had neither.

    If you are one of those guys that thinks that shit sculpted into the form of Britney Spears is art, then by all means the steaming chud of a movie that is Cloverfield is most definitely art.

    For that matter, anything and everything is "art" as long as someone thinks it is.

    I'm glad that people liked this movie. I have never once said, "don't go see this movie". Just don't call it groundbreaking. It's not.

    The amazing thing to me is how many people don't get it. "Where's the story? Where'd the monster come from? Why isn't there some mad professor standing in the middle of the street answering all of these questions?"

    Argh.

    I love the comment that goes, "What is there groundbreaking about this?"

    Someone still doesn't get it. So I'll explain it, but I'll go really slow...

    The movie isn't about the story as much as total immersion. Nobody's going to stand around answering your questions. You're going to want to get your loved ones and get the fat out of dodge, not go chasing the monster and it's minions around Manhattan to try and provide answers nobody in the vicinity actually cares to ask.

    It is by far the most realistic depiction of what it would be like to be caught in the midst of a cataclysmic monster attack in NYC. If you just don't like that, I can appreciate that. 27 Dresses just came out.

    I *did* make sure to take my Dramamine though! Absolute Necessity!

    Ok first of all the movie started out slow, butt when it got going it was full out. Hudd was funny as hell had me laughing my ass off. Who wouldnt want to see a bum on fire in the dark subway tunnels. Anyways I was upset that they dont talk about the creatur. To hell with the girl I want to know about the monsters. Thats to me is what the movie should be about. Second the gov would of nuke the city and then try to fig out what happend. Reminded me of the blare witch. Hummmmmmm sound fam look how we all acted when that came out. Ground breaking unreal or is it. Over all 4 out of 5 great special and ok storie. Would of been better it the focused more on the monster and not to save some dumb ass girl.

    Nice Turboman. I couldn't agree more. A buddy of mine is a sound mixer and I have run boom for him in the past and we have a joke. Here it is.

    1st guy: Know what I heard?
    2nd guy: No, what did you hear?
    1st guy: Nothing. They don't give a shit about sound on this project!

    It's true. 45 seconds into the movie, I knew that sound would be shitty. I actually used the joke during the movie.

    I'm also really sick of people saying this is groundbreaking style of shooting a movie. Why do they say it's groundbreaking.

    1. POV cam was innovative and fresh.
    2. The story doesn't need a plot because the action is the plot.
    3. It doesn't really need a story because the action is the story.

    That's funny because I know of several other movies that use that very style. Pornos.

    Are all of you people that are telling me this is a high concept innovative movie saying that the porn guys had it right all along?

Because theres something attacking the city. Well what is it Terrorists? Aliens? Godzilla? I dont know im not sure. What do u mean youre not sure? so what the He lets go see it anyway. Are you sure? Yea why not? Because I dont wanna waste my time and money on a movie thats going to suck. but it wont. How do you know? umm because. well whose in it? Uhh nobody. Oh great, its going to suck.
    ( after the movie ) I told you it was going to suck. It wasn't that bad. Are you kidding me? sorry.

    My only gripes were that the acting and dialogue could have been stepped up a bit to make the whole experience a bit more gripping, and the audio was terrible, I think the sound editor completely forgot that this was being recorded on a video camera.

    What the monster is , is never mentioned nobody knows what it is its just a monster that came from the water , the camera acually was face to face with the monster at once , theres no way to describe what it is.I guess you could say its just a monster.At the begging though i really thought it was the kraken or somthin hmmm i donno what to call it!

    Btw, I'm going to give a few facts about the movie to prove that I am not making shit up. You won't believe me though until you see the movie.

    A. The building that is leaning up against another one in the trailer is where Beth lives.

    B. Hud is infatuated with Marlena, but she won't give him the time of day.

    C. The scene with the guy saying "this is going to be the greatest night ever" doesn't make the movie.

    I have to say with all honesty that you all must prepare to be underwhelmed. It was boring and dragged for the first 20 to 25 minutes or so. I mean really dragging.

    The characters are flat, and I didn't care about any of them. I have a position about movies that it can be the worst story ever, and if you get me to care about even one character, I can enjoy the movie.

    Let me say that not only did I not care about any characters, but the story is mediocre at best. The dialogue is cheesy. Not good cheesy either, it's bad cheesy. Shaky hand cam? It spoils the emotional moments in the movie. Because of the shaky cam, you don't get to see many reactions of the characters in this traumatic situation (My friend Mike pointed this out, and it explains my uncaring for the characters).

    I do admit that the monster is pretty cool. (That's the only reason for the two stars) I think it looks creepy scary, and I don't have a problem with the cgi. I think it's pretty well done. That said though, the monster could have looked like anything because the focus isn't on the monster, it's all on the love story (again, thanks Mike, for helping me to make my feeling clear and put it into words on this point).

    Yet, my biggest beef with the whole movie is that after months of speculation, viral marketing, websites, myspaces, slusho, any and all of that………….it doesn't matter. None of that is used in this movie. NONE of it.

    Slusho? Not mentioned.
    Tagruato? What is that?
    Teddy? Who?
    TIDOwave? Nada.
    Japanese recipes? No eating.

    I am not going to discuss story particulars in this review though. Even though I didn't care for the movie, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, unless you personally want details. If you do want details of the story/movie, you can send me a message.

    But please, don't take my word for how bad the movie is. Go see it and judge it for yourself, but I already know that's what you are going to do.

    Do you wonder that "Cloverfield" might be the name of the monster? I'm nosy about its appearance. I can't wait for its release. I'm not sure if I can see it in theaters because I'm not sure if I will have money in the weekend to see it in theaters. Let's all wait 'till it comes out.
