Typical sports flick. Except for the fact that they lose. And even that was predictable because it was obvious that the bigger story would be their growth as individuals. Solid watch though.
Decent film that is at times a little too strong with the inspiration. Don't be fooled that this film is a basketball story because it is far for that. That could only be considered the setting for the story itself. So if that was the reason you were put off of this film, you really should check it out. Decent performance from Sam Jackson, who plays a coach who gives a basketball team lessons in life as well as sport. As I said some of the lines in it are slightly over the top but at times, films like that are good to watch and definatly necessary for young people today. If you liked Dead Poets Society, while not being quite as good, this is definatly to be considered. The kids that play the guys all do a very good job and like the coach you get to see past their characters thuggish attitudes and realise they all have a lot of potential. I can understand why you wouldn't want to watch it but I believe it's one of those films you just have to watch at least once.
a good inspirional movie. but think watched this kind of movies too many times. "good" that they didn't win like many other movie do and good speech at the end.
Jackson is probably the only person that could have made this movie work. Otherwise it would have been the quintessential underdog team that has to join together and be a "real team" by working together in school and basketball.
It was good... nothing spectacular. I got kind of bored while watching it. The story is pretty good. Jackson does an okay job... it's not like he deserved an Oscar or anything. The ending, however, was very good. Two weird points: Coach Carter chooses really random numbers of push-ups and suicides for them to do every ten seconds, and some girl in the hallway has the Spanish book from our school. Weird. Watch it, but don't expect too much.
i know... i know... everything's completely generic in sports movies. but not this one. a moving story of redemption, a team will be changed by coach carter, a radical man who not only wants to improve their game, but their character too. inspirational... brilliant.
I was afraid that this was going to be a bad imitation of Remember the Titans, but I actually loved it. The actors were great, the story was great. A good film.
