I saw this at the Cleveland International Film Festival too. It was very funny. The joke that the guy is not gay but all his family and coworkers think he is, could have gotten old fast. It did bother me at first that no matter how many times he says he is not gay, his mother ...( read more)doesn't really listen. But because the characterizations were written so well, it actually works that every time the main guy tries to explain away the misunderstanding everyone else doesn't really hear him.

Wilson Cruz makes this fun but the movie itself is mostly silly.

Funny little movie you dont have to invest too much of your brain power in! You could do a lot worse as far as movies go.

This was a great movie... considering that it was a very low budget film. The acting left much to be desired, but there were a lot of good lines and the storyline was overall endearing.

    Coffee Date
Is an enjoyable light hearted comedy about the boundaries of friendship, sex and human compassion.
Wilson Cruz is at his charming best as a Kelly who has an internet relationship with another man and they have everything in common BUT one thing. Cruz's character i...( read more)s a gay male with a sexually ambiguous name "Kelly" so Todd whom he is talking to via the internet is not aware that he is male or gay and Todd is straight.
Todd is wonderfully played by Jonathan Bray also very charming in this role.
What happens after they meet for their Coffee Date is both funny and thought provoking.
It's a gay themed movie but anyone can enjoy it because it doesn't have a one viewed perspective on any of the situations.
Jonathan Silverman as Todd's room mate/ brother lends to the comedic flow as well.
My advice is buy it because it's a movie you will watch more than once..

This is suppose to be a comedy, right?
About what? Typical stereotypes, gay bashing, office and family dysfunctionality?
The only saving grace in this piece of trash is the Eye Candy Wilson Cruz. Jonathan Bray does not display 1 ounce of acting ability and appears totally inept a...( read more)nd out of place with every step. Yes, I know that is what he is suppose to be in character but but literally, it seems as if he has to look down to take every step he is even unsure of how to walk. The only thing comedic about this is the fact that it, in itself, is a joke.

Really gay movie. It seemed low budget but it didn't have a bad story to it. How could you not be sure if you gay just because other people think you are? And then he had sex with a man. Even though he wasn't gay. Good movie.
