WAAAAY better than I expected from ole Swinty McZellwegger and Nicrap Crapattackman. I think I might like civil war movies as a rule, which may explain it.

Another chick flick for sure, but one i loved...Renee Zellweger's character was so great for her and i just loved all but the ending...it was sweet she had a baby, but i would have liked it better if he had lived!

I am very interested in the civil war. This film was lacking and struggled to depic reality of the war and actual human condition.

Really, really great movie. Excellent performance by Renee Zellweger and a surprisingly decent turn by Jack white.

This rich and haunting character study chronicles the struggles at the heart, and on the periphery of The Civil War. Brilliant cast.

Love expressed itself in heroism and determination through the crumbling confederacy and varying obstacles and pressures of time. Both Ada and Inman have their stories—bound together by their calm resolve to see each other through.
I’ve not seen it in the theatre but have bought the DVD—I tell you, it’s worth it.

An absolutely amazing and extremely moving and emotional film. A MUST SEE! This film has a very beautiful musical score, and contains some of the best acting (esp. by Renee Zelweger) that i have ever seen. The film is so moving and fast paced that the two and a half hours seem very short, and when the film ends, it leaves the viewer internally and emotionally moved. The visuals of this film are mesmirizing, and I must say again that It is a MUST SEE!

This film is a MUST-SEE. It's beautifully crafted, assembled, and absolutely mesmerizing in all aspects of filmmaking techniques and style. The music score and soundtracks are so appropriate locked into the events and the moods of the characters. And the film's title? It does project its allegorical appeal
