It?s not bad but I very much doubt I will ever watch it again! I found Zellweger extremely irritating.

I hated this movie. I don't know why...the cast was awesome, but I never got into it. It was just really boring.

Ada: [voiceover] "Dear Mr. Inman, I began by counting the days, then the months. I don't count on anything anymore except the hope that you will return, and the silent fear that in the years since we saw each other, this war, this awful war, will have changed us both beyond al...( read more)

The Worst, makes the Civil War seem like some unimportant moment in time, and that fat bitches getting screwed, and helping the confedrates chase down deserters and shooting them, and hurting mothers, too make children deserters come out so they can kill them too, NO WAY!Strictly...( read more)

A beautiful love movie about Inman, Ida and Ruby. Inman is in love with Ida so he forsake the army and had so much obstacles to get home, while ruby and Ida trying to save the farm. Great movie, in the end Inman died.
Critic Reviews
Cold is right -- Anthony Minghella's pretty, star-studded adaptation of the bestselling Civil War romance never makes it above freezing. full review
At 154 minutes, Cold Mountain is long and seems long, at times inspired, at times merely dutiful. But in most of the important ways, it succeeds. full review
Law's performance ... sustains us throughout the movie, just as love sustains Inman during his long separation from Ada. full review
Good, sometimes thrilling, but it's less a war epic than an evocative romantic melodrama with a patchy first hour. full review
As they might have said in the old days, this sweeping historical romance is one heck of a classy picture which is both its great virtue and its limitation. full review
It evokes a backwater of the Civil War with rare beauty, and lights up with an assortment of colorful supporting characters. full review

November 24, 2007Love expressed itself in heroism and determination through the crumbling confederacy and varying obstacles and pressures of time. Both Ada and Inman have their stories—bound together by their calm resolve to see each other through.
I’ve not seen it in the theatre but have bought the DVD—I tell you, it’s worth it. -

July 22, 2006An absolutely amazing and extremely moving and emotional film. A MUST SEE! This film has a very beautiful musical score, and contains some of the best acting (esp. by Renee Zelweger) that i have ever seen. The film is so moving and fast paced that the two and a half hours seem very short, and when the film ends, it leaves the viewer internally and emotionally moved. The visuals of this film are mesmirizing, and I must say again that It is a MUST SEE!

June 21, 2006This film is a MUST-SEE. It's beautifully crafted, assembled, and absolutely mesmerizing in all aspects of filmmaking techniques and style. The music score and soundtracks are so appropriate locked into the events and the moods of the characters. And the film's title? It does project its allegorical appeal
