It will always be one of my favorites no matter what... Even its flaws I can't help but love. So gorgeous to look and to listen to, the battle scene is undeniably stuning, and the performances are perfect: Jude Law has only been better in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Renée gives something worth of classics, very often misunderstood, Nicole does the absolute best with a role that wasn't meant for her at all, and the small performances are all wonderful and something to look forward to on rewatches (most notably Natalie Portman, Eileen Atkins and Ray Winstone) The ending was at first a bit of a problem for me (mostly because of the emotional dissapointment), but eventually I learned to love it too.

I loved this movie. It was really good cause for one Jude Law is really hot in the "before war" scenes and it was a beautiful plot. The things I hated most about it was that it was way too predictable and was annoying because everytime someone got shot they would somehow survive and turn out fine. Oh and there was a lot of sexuality. Like when Nicole Kidman and Jude Law have sex they skip it at first then go back and replay the whole thing! It's like "What thehell do you think we're stupid if they start kissing and it skips to a scene where their both nude then I think we got the point no need to replay it" But I just love how even when he was drunk and the girls tried to seduce him he resisted because he was travelling to Nicole and how he fought so hard to get to her and then succeded. But what annoyed me most is how they got together, made love, and then he dies. And it's all so predictable because of her "vision" in the well. I mean they met up and I said "great now he gets her pregnant and then dies ASAP and the scene that was in the well will be on the screen and then he'll die and she'll have his baby and say "oh after all these years I haven't thought of you as much cuz I'm just to busy" whatever most the story was good like when he was laying in bed with Natelie Portman and he said "I can I'm in love with someone else" I loved that because if I was seperated from my boyfriend/husband unwillingly and he was under seduction I would want him to do the same thing. I definetly recomend this movie for mature audiences. This movie was really good. Although you might not want to watch it if you read this because this contained so many spoilers to the plot.
I LOVE this movie! it is absolutely fantastic. All of the roles are brilliantly cast, and it stays pretty true to the book...but I had a real problem with the last killing in the movie...if you know what I mean...cause in the book it's just a little boy, like, too young to fight and it shows that *cough* had gone through so much but was killed by this kid-
and the kid was like 'oh, crap, didnt mean to do that'
But I LOVELOVE Ruby and Renee Zellweger, she was fantastic.
The accents were mazin'
Jude Law has pretty eyes. =]
OMG THAT GUY IS MADEYE MOODY THATS WHAT I RECOGNIZED HIM FROM!!
haha
A vivid heartbreaking story about the destructive force of war against the enduring and healing might of love. Five stars for Jude Law, Renée Zellweger, and Natalie Portman.
Another gigantic Oscar nominated piece of crap. Only better than Titanic. Bad perfomances, horrible and predictable script, the most cheesy dialogs you will hear in your life. BAD!! DO NOT WATCH THIS!!
Cold Mountain is a very good film starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and Renee Zellweger. Set during the civil war a young couple (kidman and law) are torn apart due to the war and him leaving to join it. During it she meets an off the wall loner (zellweger) whom helps her create a life by herlself....what love will do to someone...a movie worth seeing
I put off seeing this movie for so long because I thought it was going to be too sad and too much about war, but I was very wrong! The movie itself isn't about war at all, it is about courage, love and life that just happened to American Civil war times. Yes, there are some sad bits but they do not overpower this beautifully written story. Nicole Kidman does a wonderful job of portraying a delicate, pampered young lady that blossoms into a strong and couragous woman, but the stand out of this movie has to be from Renee Zellwiger who portrays a delightful character with such depth and transparency you almost feel as if you know her. I can definitely see how this movie won awards, you just fall in love with the set, actors and storyline.
Civil war period movie that despite a superior cast i was not drawn to.
This is a good film, well produced, balanced, well acted and scripted. The sense that somehow you shouldn't over anticipate joyous outcomes hangs in the air throughout. Still it was a time of war, given that and the subjects covered this is a notably less gloomy affair than it might otherwise have been.
I was probably a hair too young for this when I first watched it. It was very violent and sexual. But I remember liking it anyway... or at least finding it interesting.
FAntastic film. Great acting performances. I could watch it over and over again and not get bored. The only thing I didn't like was that it had some scenes that didn't really point to much.
Well, I did really like this movie. Renée, Jude and Nicole really play good in this movie and when I first saw it, I could not forget about this film for a while. It is impressive.
Plenty of talk about shitting - funny but not enough to make it seem like a comedy. Good civil war epic. Strangely, not too biased. You'd expect otherwise. The acting is powerful and every character brims with personality.
wow i have not seen this movie in ages but this was a pretty good movie...i think this has a good cast of actors/actressess throughout the movie...nicole kidman n renee zellweger are both so beautiful actressess n have done some good movies...this had good scenery throughout the movie..i think that jack white (from the hit bands "The White Stripes nd The Racounters - both good bands )..this has good scenery throughout the movie...this was a good movie
IM not a big fan of romance, this movie is an exception. The cinematography was well done and the acting was top notch. Renée Zellweger was at her finest and deserved her Oscar. The script held everything together.
