Critic Reviews
-
Ben Lyons, At the Movies
I thought it was dreadful from start to finish.
-
Ben Mankiewicz, At the Movies
Not only would I not see this movie, I wouldn't see any movie playing in the same multiplex.
-
Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times
A tedious, by-the-numbers raunch-fest that exists strictly because it can.
-
Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel
A raunchy comedy that plays like a Superbad without the smarts, the heart, the originality or the laughs.
-
Nick Pinkerton, Village Voice
Film critics never come home stinking of their honest labor, but the nearest equivalent is covering something like College, which leaves its stain on one's very humanity.
-
Glenn Gamboa, Newsday
College tries to be a throwback to the teens-gone-wild films of the '80s, but now that teens can find far racier and far funnier fare than this on the Internet, these brainless movies have become obsolete.
-
Mike Scott, Times-Picayune
We've done the whole classless college comedy thing before, many times.
-
David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
A laugh-free, thoroughly unpleasant comedy...
-
Mark Bazer, Boston Phoenix
So full of nastiness and cruelty that it's hard to believe anyone would find joy in it.
-
Kevin Carr, 7M Pictures
a male fantasy of what sorority life is really like with a depth of story that would be more at home in a porn film than a major motion picture
-
Christian Toto, What Would Toto Watch?
The worst gags in "Old School" and "Revenge of the Nerds" are still superior to anything you'll see in College
-
Brian Webster, Apollo Guide
Given the movie's disastrous box office non-performance, it should come as no surprise that the extras on this disc are limited.
-
Brian Webster, Apollo Guide
If you hear someone deriding Superbad for being unoriginal or derivative, sit them in front of College. If they can't tell the difference, they're a lost cause.
-
Bill Gibron, DVDTalk.com
In actuality, College blows like a loose sorority.
-
Marc Savlov, Austin Chronicle
Excruciatingly unfunny.
-
Brent Simon, FilmStew.com
Personally, I wouldn't waste a $5 drink on this one, but I do understand that teen's irritation.
-
Jim Lane, Sacramento News & Review
...makes The House Bunny look like The Importance of Being Earnest.
-
Jackie K. Cooper, jackiekcooper.com
A movie that glorifies binge drinking flunks as a movie
-
Charles Koplinski, Illinois Times
Sadistic with no laughs to be had.

Came across this last night on TMC [The Movie Channel]. I forogt this movie even existed, but, I was bored so I decided to watch it. ISure, the movie has a couple laughs but this is the kind of movie you can compare to "Superbad". Welll....I really hated "Superbad" and I feel as if "College" has a little more to offer. "College" is more raunchy and disguesting, sometimes a little too disguesting, but overall, I'd still recommend this over "Superbad".

This is the lamest, dumbest, most obnoxiously poor excuse for a comedy I've seen since DATE MOVIE. What an insulting pile of dreck. I expected it to be bad... but not this bad. How did this get a theatrical release? It's just beyond me...

This film is hilarious to it's core, but it's plot sucks ass!
-
It has your typical crude humor. More towards the male audience with their fantasy world of "college".

You've seen it all before, done better. Every cliche is there, every moment you presume will be there exists. The outcome is exactly what you think it is. Recommended only for college movie completists or T&A fans (there's more plastic on display than at IKEA).

Not as bad as you might think. It's certainly not particularly intellectual (or original), but it's got fun moments. Just think of it as another in the ongoing American Pie series.

It also gets bonus points for having high school seniors and college kids that actually look their age, rather than having 27-year-old high school kids.
(and a surprisingly competent performance by ex-American Idol contestant Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais)

There is absolutely NO need for this movie to have ever been made. It is truly a waste of anyone's time who is unfortunate enough to find themselves watching it. At no point does it come close to touching any kind of relevant comedy, nor can it stack up to even the worst of this… More
There is absolutely NO need for this movie to have ever been made. It is truly a waste of anyone's time who is unfortunate enough to find themselves watching it. At no point does it come close to touching any kind of relevant comedy, nor can it stack up to even the worst of this used up genre. Just terrible.

Very obscene. Drake just can't get out to make a big movie...

First of all, I refuse to believe anyone would voluntarily want to hang out with the fat kid. He is so annoying I wish him and his family cancerAIDS. Second, this is just a pathetic male lust fantasy version of what the college experience is all about and the message is that if you're not drunk all the time having sex with complete strangers then you are not a fun person.

Stop making these movies, please...college really isn't that fun.

Three high school seniors decide to go visit a college for a weekend and once there choose to stay at a frat house instead of the dorms once inside they are pretty much hazed the entire time that is untill the tables get turned. ok comedy but its been done before and alot better in movies like Animal House still worth checking out as there are some pretty good laughs in this one but will never be remembered like the classic movie mentioned above. also features a pretty funny cameo by Verne Troyer

Pretty much made for mindless frat-wannabe idiots. The story, itself, is kind of funny, but it tries so hard to be better than "Superbad" and "Animal House" that the film, itself, is begging for acceptance by its mindless audience. Basically, it's a bad attempt at "Superbad", except it really is super bad! The only thing I can give this film credit for is having Drake Bell in it, but sadly the script allows him no opportunity to showcase his talent. Instead, lets just throw fart jokes, boobs and easy college girls, and lots of keg parties together and call it a legit film. By creating stereotypes and telling all pre-freshman they will get laid by slutty college girls, lets release a film with no morals about the importance of individuality/nonconformity and education, in general, by letting every person in America know that partying and casual sex is the way to go...so yeah, not my cup of tea.
