Critic Reviews

Bernard Besserglik, Hollywood Reporter
While lightheartedness is not a quality one readily associates with Blier, the movie is more frankly entertaining than most of his previous work.
-
Lisa Nesselson, Variety
For those who buy into Blier's style, touching -- and funny -- human truths come shining through.
-
Luke Goodsell, Empire Magazine Australasia
With perfume commercial pretentious shots scored to shrill opera and orchestral pomp, this is an insipid attempt to wring pathos from soft porn.
-
Brian Orndorf, DVDTalk.com
Paraded around by Blier in various cleavage-popping outfits (and often nothing at all), Bellucci is an amnesia-inducing, hot-blooded presence, blowing the top right off the film with her pristine, slap-yourself-in-the-face magnetism.
-
Peter Sobczynski, eFilmCritic.com
It is likely that most viewers will be too distracted by Bellucci's pronounced physical charms to realize just how flat and unconvincing the rest of the movie truly is.
-
Robin Clifford, Reeling Reviews
It is telling when a supporting character,...nicely played by [Jean-Pierre] Darroussin, garners far more empathy than the film's stars.
-
Laura Clifford, Reeling Reviews
...may be preposterous, but it is not commonplace and for that it gets a mild recommendation.
-
David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
...nothing short of a complete disaster...
-
Urban Cinefile Critics, Urban Cinefile
An unfathomable film on many levels... There is no predictable emotional curve, no easy storyline for us to cling to. It's all at once confusing, bewitching and often irritating. Some may be inspired.
-
Boyd van Hoeij, european-films.net
A mostly coherent fable that poses as a particularly low-brow sex comedy set in a faux high-brow, very stylised version of the Parisian night.

Wasn't overly keen on this one. Monica Bellucci plays a prostitute, and while she's attractive in a matronly type of way, she's certainly not a drop dead babe as is implied. Movie starts off pretty bland, picks up a little with the arrival of Gerard Depardieu as what I gather is her pimp/boyfriend. Then just slides straight back into silly. This movie I think could have worked if they had played it a bit straighter instead of stupid little fantasy sequences and Monica's character seemingly unable to make up her mind about anything at all. Might be worth a watch if you are a fan of Monica, but otherwise not really recommended.

A story about beauty, sex and Love.

Some interesting ideas but the movie is just a big disappointment

Oh my God, Monica Bellucci is such beautiful as she is in this arthouse-romance film and I like her nudity scenes. I believe she is the next new Sophia Loren. (She's from Italy)

In "How Much Do You Love Me?" Francois(Bernard Campan) is looking for a little companionship at a bar frequented by prostitutes when he is approached by Daniela(Monica Bellucci). At first, the prices seem a little high but after Francois reveals he just won a lottery of 4.5 million euros, they agree on a price of 100,000 euros a month for her to live with him until the money runs out. On the way to her apartment, he collapses, revealing that he has a weak heart, so his friend Andre(Jean-Pierre Darroussin), a doctor himself, monitors him constantly but then it is not Francois' heart that he should be so concerned with.
Bertrand Blier's movies have a tendency to be wild, frenetic affairs containing characters who while not always criminals, do live outside of societal norms. His latest "How Much Do You Love Me?"(which also finally proves the hype about Monica Bellucci being true.) is constructed along the same lines and is a sexy and funny tour de force about love and romance. And really should it matter that Francois and Daniela are respectively an office worker living out a fantasy and a prostitute?

Awesome comedy of the world's oldest profession from another perspective. What would happen if a regular guy who has won the lottery (Bernard Campan) and has decided to spend his winnings being accompanied by a prostitute (Monica Bellucci) to be his round the clock wife. Hilarious antics are thrown all over the place until the pimp (Gerard Depardieu) catches on to what is hooker is onto...and intervenes. The outcome of how this turns out goes lame in the end...but the outcome which gets lost in the end where finding acceptance for love is more than pleasant...it is inevitable. See this. It was pretty good!

just how far can you stretch a thin joke?? Well, in this movie they try to stretch it from start to finish, and the result is a rather boring movie after the first 20 minutes or so. If you dont mind admiring Monica's beauty and ego, then go see it. If you are looking for a… More

If you dont mind admiring Monica's beauty and ego, then go see it. If you are looking for a meaty plot, forget it. This movie is lighter than helium.
