loved it. my favorite scene is the one where hes in the factory with the matchsticks in his eyelids.
"i bit off his nose. your looking for a criminal with no nose, how simple could it be?".
A movie that just does enough to be entertaining but doesn't get to be as good as it should. Mel Gibson and Patrick Stewart are good in it and Richard Donner is one of the most underrated directors of his time, but for some reason it just doesn't click. I did like that Gibson had to buy "Catcher in the Rye" every time he saw it.
Was expecting a LOT more than what I got. Expected a somewhat serious thriller film (a la Enemy of the State) and got a poor Romantic Comedy/Action film with a touch of conspiracy to tie the rather loose plot together. Gibson and Roberts are fantastic in it but even their performances cannot make up for the crappy plot they're stuck in.
I love Mel, but Julia makes my head hurt. Even so, she is at least bearable in this movie. Mel Gibson does a top notch job at being incredibly paronoid. Just a little too long.
I think Mel Gibson is fantastic in this film and I am a big fan of Roberts she gets my vote all the time but also the film I enjoyed and picking up Patrick Stewart from one word is so easy for any film goer, lol.
This is my favorite Mel Gibson movie. He is hysterical.Patrick Stewart plays the meancing bad guy to a T.Non-stop action, conspiracies, twists and turns.Julia Roberts as the love interest is this films only flaw.I just didn't think they had chemistry.
This was fun. I can't believe it has taken me so many years to watch it. I liked Mel Gibson's performance but I had a hard time believing that he was a trained Assassin.
Have me questioning everything the government does and doesn't do.. Went you watch this move watch the credit at the beginning you know when you normally get your drinks and things..
Doesn't sound that great. It has Roberts, but Mel Gibson may keep me from seeing it. And every time I see Patrick Stewart I think of Star Trek. I'll think about it.
Idea wise, i think it's good., Storywise, it's riveting., What's more if you combine two good actors together., Mel Gibson was great along with Julia Roberts., But I found other scenes not convincing., Still, its one of my favorites
I enjoyed this film , Mel Gibson was suitably crazy. I don't know if this was meant to be intentionally funny but after he bites Patrick Stewarts nose and starts his getaway in the wheelchair he looks so mental and its just hilarious, because of his feet are just kicking really fast so his wheelchair will move, i nearly cracked up the first time i saw it.
Cool movie. Wasn't totally convinced though with Mel Gibson mock-autistic performance. Aside from that, the movie failed to grab the audiences attention during the crucial points of the story where it needed it to.
Donner directs with an efficient hand. He keeps the action moving briskly. But most important for this format, he knows how to slip in a quick joke or two without distracting from the tension of the suspenseful plot.
Even at two hours and 15 minutes, Conspiracy Theory is fast-paced and exciting, effectively mixing drama, comedy, ingenuity, suspense, revelation and a heartening sense of a triumph of humanity.
Jerry Fletcher (Gibson), a grungy New York cabbie, has an elaborate theory for everything. Bobbing along in his own private sea of crackpot logic, Jerry is the most entertaining creature I've seen in a long time. Gibson and Roberts are just marvelous together.
Conspiracy Theory works as a twisty comic-thriller given a manic edge by Gibson. And Donner has fun with the paranoid theme of such thrillers -- that you can't trust anyone or anything, even your own memory.
i only watched this movie once my whole life and i've never heard of it or seen it again ever since.. but i remember loving it so much though. despite Mel Gibson.
