Small time pimp, Black rabbit moves to the big city with Fox and Bear after his father dies and takes over the underworld scene in this Ralph Bakshi cartoon.
This movie plays out like most blaxploitation films I've seen and the movie has the same feel as 'Heavy Traffic.' I'd sa...( read more)y this is one of Bakshi's better movies.
Fans of Bakshi and blaxploitation cinema should enjoy.

Ralph Bakshi took a lot of shit for this movie, but it was obviously given to him by people who only saw what they wanted to see. The problem is, people are always so quick to cry racist before they actually know what's going on. This and Heavy Traffic are perfect satires of wh...( read more)at was going on at the time.

Ive been a fan of Bakshi's work since I saw Fritz the Cat and here (mixing live action and animation) he creates a very solid blaxploitation flix that stands well w/ others of the genre. Great voice work by Barry White & Scatman Crothers who also sings the theme song

Groundbreaking as it was when it premiered in 1975,this was also very controversial. Set in the gritty streets of Harlem during the 1970's, this was crazy animation at the next level and this went way beyond Bakshi's previous works with a hint of Disney's "Song of the South" comp...( read more)lete with stereotypes and all of the above. Complete with gangsters, drugs, and the mafia along with the rest of the crew. Could you believe that one of the biggest R&B singers of his day Barry White chose to do voicework for this? He did along with Scatman Crothers in this masterpiece of animation cimema.

A very entertaing cartoon film about gangsters. A very funny and interesting plot. Some people would consider this racist these days, everything being PC. I found it to be a cool film.

    Very good banned movie.

The footage of Scatman Crothers singing Nigger Man over the credits is better than most entire movies. Good luck finding it though. I had to steal it off the internet.
