Rare to find a movie about an interacial couple in the 1950's. One can only imagine how hard it must have been for familes like theirs back in the day.

MCT:July 31, 2008Whoopi Goldberg is fantastic as the Nanny who grows to love the little girl as a daughter. It was so beautiful how her character got the little girl to talk again after she'd been walking around mute since her mother died. Ray Liotta played a fantastic role as her love interest and the girl's father. Great movie to watch on a night in if you like a good weepie...hankie's at the ready!

An OK movie. It is too bad that race matters. I thought the three main actors - Whoopi Goldberg, Ray Liotta and Tina Majorino (as Ray's kid) did a wonderful job.

Love it. A feel good movie. Ray Liotta and Whoopi Goldberg are excellent in this movie. The last movie Don Ameche did and even though he had suffered a stroke prior, he still did so well in his role. Love it 100%

I think I watched this movie 3 times in a row the first time I rented it. I love all the 50's cultural images intertwined with this feel good story of loss and love.

This is one of the best aw'shucks how cute type movies ever. It's very emotionally fulfilling. I've said for years this would be great material for a musical but nobody seems to like to listen to me. This is definately a great family movie, with some adult themes.
