Couples Retreat is a comedy centered around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. While one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort's therapy sessions is not optional. Couples Ret...( read more)reat is like a romantic comedy but without all the romantic stuff, well maybe a little bit of romance at the end but that's it. It has many funny moments. The locations are wonderful all the landscapes are fantastic. The cast is really good, Vince Vaughn still got the necessary to make people laugh, Jon Favreau is also very funny in this movie. Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman all three with very decent performancesand the one thet steals the show is latin actor Carlos Ponce with his performance of yoga instructor, he was hilarious. To conclude, Couples Retreat is a movie with the only purpose of entertaining, and I think it accomplishes it very nice.

It was funny, but the ending was just kinda...blah. Not really sure what I was expecting, but it kinda just ended!

Not very realistic or relatable. But slightly more relatable for couples to watch rather than singles. Beautiful scenery and beautiful people is all this really offers. It didn't make any sense how Shane's ex-wife showed up on the singles side of the island to renew their marr...( read more)iage. I didn't care for the guitar hero battle at the "Ponderosa." The way all the couples renew their marriages at the singles mixer is cheesy. Well, the couple played by Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman were slightly less cheesy than the others. But then the movie topped off all that cheese with more cheese. Jean Reno as Marcel does a rip off of the Wizard of Oz being revealed behind the curtain and passing out some fluffy philosophy and token "animal spirit" gifts to each couple.

Very obvious, flat, formulaic, unoriginal and old plot idea here which isn't helped by the fact it isn't actually funny either. Maybe you gotta be married I dunno but most of the jokes have been seen and done yonks ago in (at the time) amusing Chevy Chase type films hehe
The cast...( read more) is bland and uninteresting with the slight exception of Vaughan who's flat deadpan deliveries are always a smile raiser, Jean Reno is awful as the mystic island leader with all the marriage secrets and really I cant think of anything good to say here LOL sorry.
In short its poo (unless your a married couple perhaps but don't get your hopes up)

Funny movie similar to the Hangover but made for couples!

This movie was really predictable from the beginning. I think it would be a good movie for couples because they all can relate to these situations which is fun, but if you're single, i wouldn't think it would be. It wasn't great, but it was pretty good.
