The 99-minute documentary profiles the oceanographer's life and accomplishments. Born in France in 1910, Cousteau was a sickly child and a rebellious teen. He served in the navy and was involved in espionage activities for the French Resistance during World War II. Cousteau made his first underwater films in the 1940's and invented the aqualung, a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus that supplies oxygen to divers, with engineer Emile Gagnan.
