Just down the street, Oi-lin (Tang Wei) sells bathroom fixtures for her uncle and is in a deep funk over her boyfriend, who is serving time in prison. Loy's overbearing widowed mother (Paw Hee-ching) wants him to settle down and start a family, so she sets him up on a blind date with Oi-lin, even though she's considerably younger than him and not interested in dating. Since Loy's mother tags along for his date, things don't seem especially promising, but he and Oi-lin discover a common ground in their shared discomfort over the date and an interest in detective novels. But can they build a romance around their neuroses and oddball enthusiasms? And can Loy's mother find happiness with her determined and much put-upon suitor (Danny Lee)?
