Look, 'Dagr' ain't gonna win any awards, but it's a perfectly fine found footage flick. Set in some gorgeous Welsh countryside, you get your ghostly revenge on a couple of annoying chicks, and honestly, it's way better than any of those later 'Paranormal Activity' sequels. It takes its sweet time getting started, but once it gets going, it's got a decent pace. They actually use the whole internet influencer thing pretty well, with vlogs and all that crap. And they do some cool stuff with the cameras, making them part of the story - iPads, phones, the whole shebang. The acting? Eh, mid. The kills? Also mid. But it's watchable. The ending? Total 'Blair Witch' rip-off, and kinda boring. I might be giving this too much credit 'cause the scenery was killer. But bottom line: it's a solid background movie. Nothing you gotta rush out and see, but if you're multitasking, it'll do.

Basically, a rehashed Blair Witch Project for the social media generation, with a messy plot and folk cultists instead of witches.

Muddled and amateurishly made, Dagr is another in an unfortunately long and undistinguished line of found-footage misfires. The two leads are likable enough at first—even considering their criminal proclivities. But this film never manages to generate the least amount of real fear or suspense, and seems interminable at only 77 mins.

You will immediately root for the 2 main characters to get offed in the most gruesome way imaginable. Not because of their stupid TikTokker shenanigans. Not because they steal stuff and try to get away with it. No. You will root for them to die because they are 2 of the absolute worst actresses I've ever seen in my entire life. Annoying? Understatement. Flat? Understatement. Unable to deliver basic lines in a manner that would constitute normal human interaction? Understatement. There are better actors in Ozempic commercials. I immediately wanted to never see or hear them again. What about the plot? Well the plot is two different conflated projects combined into one plot. Our power went out about 15 mins from the credits and I imagine it was actually the doing of Jesus Christ himself saving me from spending another mind numbing quarter of an hour wanting lay my head on the freeway in hopes someone would drive by squashing it like a melon. My girlfriend and I agreed to not finish it once the power ultimately came back on. 0/10 - It's trash. Never cast these 2 main actresses in a movie again, you couldn't pay me to watch a movie with either of them in it.

The British horror film was co-written and directed by Matthew Butler-Hart. Tori Butler-Hart, the director's wife and co-writer, also appears in the film in the lead role. The film is a found-footage set within found-footage. A couple of young female vloggers with a big following, known for stealing and donating to the poor, pose as imposters for a commercial crew at a remote mansion in order to steal costly items. While there, they are unable to locate the crew, with the exception of an iPad containing footages of the crew's mysterious deaths and an ominous voice. The film's more than 30 minutes are filled with chuckles and girly chatter. It is only in the last 20 or so minutes that the movie begins to slide into its genre. It is fine, but do not expect too much from it.

Watched this with semi excitement as a Welsh person seeing as it's "set" in Wales. Utter disappointment at awful acting, awful characters and generally, an awful film. Might have been more interesting as a short but not clever enough. Us Welsh are used to disappointment though.

Not worth watching. Actors were fine but no story at all. One of the worst movies I've ever watched.

The film excels in its intricate character development, captivating the audience with their personal stories. This emphasis on character depth marks a refreshing change from the typical style of low-budget found footage movies, which tend to neglect the development of complex characters. There are numerous nuanced details that might go unnoticed initially, making a second viewing beneficial. The movie will undoubtedly resonate with its intended audience, though it might not fulfill the expectations of those in search of high gore levels. It’s evident that the filmmakers tackled this project with a lighthearted approach, demonstrating a profound appreciation for the horror genre. Throughout the film, there are smart, subtle nods to iconic horror movies and stories, including more overt allusions to films like "Blair Witch," all presented with a whimsical, self-aware flair. This playful tone significantly enhanced my viewing experience.

A smart, and captivating found footage horror flick. This film was directed by Matthew Butler-Hart. He does a great job executing this entire project. Found footage films are a hit or miss due to the nature of their gimmick, this one is a definite hit. The "found footage" looks great. All the camera work was very well executed. Everything is shot well and coherently. All the footage was pieced together very well to tell a complete and compelling story. The story and the script was written by Matthew and Tori Butler-Hart. They did a solid job with this script. It's paced very well; with the movie running just over seventy-seven minutes. It does not waste any time. It uses every second to successfully build suspense and establish its horror. The acts flow well and hit all the appropriate beats to keep you engaged. The last act was effective and full of action. The writers could have done a better job with the antagonist and how that all works, but it wasn't a complete detriment to the story. The cast does a nice job with their respective roles. They all understood the assignment. Every performance in this film felt grounded and it really helped the believability of the footage. Our two protagonists, especially, are fun and really do a good job fleshing out their characters. They have great chemistry and dynamics, which aid in delivering a couple of great natural performances that need to be commended. The blood and gore in this film is minimal, but very effective when it is done. They make great use of practical horror action to amplify the story. The movie also had a good spooky factor going for it. Especially since we don't get the red stuff until the latter portion of the movie. The last time I was entertained this much by a found footage feature flick was a couple of years ago with Shudder's DEADSTREAM, and even that got annoying after a while. (Note: V/H/S 85 is excellent, but doesn't count because it's an anthology.) This movie was surprisingly entertaining and fun. The characters reel you in and the spooky stuff is successful all the way until the end.

Wish I could give this less stars. What a complete waste of time as a movie. I think the acting was *okay* but what a garbage film otherwise.
