Goes back to the days of the first "Batman" movie in 1989, when comic book movies were extremely brooding and dark. It's far too grim for younger audiences, everyone else will enjoy it.

If it weren?t for the fact that I was on an Aeroplane when I saw this, I would have left.
  • June 29, 2009
Kingpin: And how did you get past my security?
Bullseye: Oh, you mean that guy?
[points to dead man with pencils in his Adam's apple on floor]
    Kingpin: Was that really necessary?
Bullseye: Necessary? No, it was fun.

This superhero movie revolves around the character Daredevil, ...( read more)the man without fear. As a boy, Matt Murdock had radioactive material splashed into his eyes, blinding him, but giving him four other super senses. As he grows older, now played by Ben Affleck, Matt has fine tuned his body to spend the nights as a superhero. During the day, Matt works as a lawyer however with help from his best friend Foggy Nelson, played to wonderful comic effect by Jon Favreau. The two work in Hell's Kitchen in New York, serving only the innocent, which Matt always knows because he can here his client's heart beats to tell.

In this particular story, Matt must deal with a women he meets, Electra Nachios, played by Jennifer Garner, and the problems her father faces, due to his involvement with the Kingpin, played by Michael Clarke Duncan. Soon, a hitman specializing in accurate weapon throwing, Bullseye played by Colin Farrell, also comes along causing trouble as well.

This movie does a good enough job at setting up the Daredevil character, despite being fairly generic as a superhero origin movie. It has its cool moments and it follows the source material fairly well.

That being said, see the director's cut, it's definitely superior to the original. Either way, this is still a good movie. It's darker than the other PG-13 comic book movies (although the director's cut is rated R), but effective.

Ben Affleck does pretty good as the man without fear, would not be a first choice, but he's good enough. Michael Clarke Duncan makes a decent Kingpin, only wish there was more. Jennifer Garner does a decent job as Electra, again not a first choice. It is Colin Farrell who does the best job as the menacing Bullseye, he gives his character the right amount of over the top villainy, without being cheesy.

Bullseye: You're good, baby, I'll give you that... but me? I'm magic.

The effects are overdone with the wire work and some clunky CG, but nice, good comic atmosphere for the most part, a fun time.

Stressing the director's cut, this is the R-rated version of the movie that was meant to be seen in theaters. There is some brutal stuff in this version, and it adds more story and a subplot, which makes sense. This cut basically adds a quarter of the movie back in and deletes other stuff. It is the better version.

Daredevil: This is my confession, Father.
Father Everett: God's mercy is infinite. All you gotta do is ask.
Daredevil: Everything I had has been taken from me. Now I'm supposed to ask for mercy. I don't ask for mercy - People ask me!
Father Everett: Oh, is that a fact?

This is a cookie-cutter superhero story. Good guy has extra senses and has been wronged in the past when bad guys kill his father. Cookie-cutter movies need a love interest, and in this movie it is Jennifer Garner as Electra.

I actually liked the movie, but the story is pret...( read more)ty boring.

Daredevil is one of the most interesting characters in the comic genre. He's a dark character who suffers from a broken heart and deadly nemesis'. But all that makes the Daredevil comic a great piece of entertainment is not in this movie...

"Daredevil" suffers mostly of the lead...( read more) actors terrible performances. Ben Affleck, a huge fan of The Man Without Fear himself, destroys everything that could've been soo great in better and more skilled hands. Colin Farrell... What can I say. I've always liked him and he's truly talented but his performance as Bullseye has to be one of the worst on-screen villains ever seen. I found myself laughing whilst watching him "perform"..

The supporting characters like Duncan's Kingpin and Pantoliano's Ben Urich are the only characters, along with Jennifer Garner's Electra, that doesn't have to be ashamed.

"Daredevil" is technically well made but lacks everything that all the comic book blockbusters have.

When Dare Devil appeared on the scene in 1964 during the stroke of brilliance for Marvel no one had any idea that Daredevil would become one of Marvels most disturbed and darkest characters. now almost 44 years after his initial

    U rock my world, jennifer!
  • December 28, 2009
most people will not like it, unless you've read Frank Miller's 1st run on the comics and the new comics by Kevin Smith. One of the best and underrated superhero movies.
  • December 26, 2009
I've seen the first 20 minutes of this a few times. I really wanted to like it as Daredevil is a good comic, but Ben Affleck is just so vapid, it can never work. A shame.

Daredevil may have colorful, comic, and cartoonish content, it was very very stylized and another Marvel adaptation. B-: Pretty good.

If you haven't seen it, i highly recomend checking out the Director's Cut of the movie. The entire plot changes, the story changes, the love scene is removed, it's a darker movie that in the end is much more satisfying and it does what they say it does. It gives "The Devil His Due".
