Kyung-Taek Kwak, who previously directed <i>Friend</i>, delivers a different sort of drama in <i>Mutt Boy</i>.<p>As interesting as this film looks and sounds, it isn't all it is cracked up to be. At times it seems like this picture needs the laughs, but they never come. There are also times where the story just needs more meat. Fortunately, this film is only 1 hour and 40 minutes, although it does feel a little longer. For most of the movie, the plot is flat. In other words, people will be asking "what is going to happen next?" It's not because they are engrossed in the movie. It is more because the film can't end yet.</p><p>The pacing is slow to moderate and there isn't much in the way of big events. There needs to be something big for the climax, and in here it is 2 guys, in prison, fighting each other in their underwear. Sure, that may be a big event in this picture, but it sure as heck isn't going out with a bang.</p><p>The acting is the best component of the whole production. Woo-sung Jung takes on a unique role and pulls off a great performance. It is similar to Tom Hanks playing Forrest Gump. There are some good supporting performances from Kap-su Kim and Ji-won Uhm as well.</p><p><i>Mutt Boy</i> is a drama that some people may pick up and love. However, other than the acting, there isn't much else going on in this film.
