MCT:May 5, 2008Little bit gross, little bit funny, and little bit like an easter egg hunt for all the film referencing. Plus, Shimerman (Deep Space Nine, BVS) has some decent dialogue in the morgue, along with Billingsley. Funny the descriptions all list it as a beetle when it's clearly a scorpion.

Zombie movies always try to set themselves apart from all the other zombie movies, this time a soldier gets infected by a zombie virus, and becomes half zombie. Omigosh!! It starts out allright enough, focusing largely on the powers this guy developes, but quickly degenerates into another lame survival movie. After a while you remember, oh yeah that dudes half zombie. A bit uninspired one not really a whole lot different from the others. Could have been though.
Justins Best Bit: These zombies actually get green blood. Now thats the way it should be. -

Fun for zombie movie fans but not much more. Some of the effects were pretty good. I don't know if it was just me but the constant movie references started to get annoying.

MCT:March 2, 2008I watched this the other night, didn't know what to expect from it. As it was a low budget zombie flick, i din't carry any high hopes about it as i was disappointed by other so-called hip zombies flicks like: Gangs of the dead (aka Last rites aka 48 weeks later. WHAT???!!! 48 hours later more like)Dawn of the living dead (please notice that i said Dawn of the living dead aka Curse of the Maya so don't get it confused with Dawn of the dead the great George A. Romero film) Day of the dead:Contagium and Rise of the undead. Dead and deader was a bit of fresh air to me, finally i saw a recent low budget zombie movie that was decent even though it was a made for TV movie. All i knew about this film was that it was about zombies, which being a zombie fan interested me straight away. Glad to see that i wasn't disappointed and found out it was a fairly decent zombie flick. The story was fairly good, not that believable but hey this was a sci-fi horror movie so it didn't need to be. It was just one of those turn-your-brain off sit-back and-enjoy movies and i did. It was better than i thought it would be. There are some gory gruesome scenes well done by KNB fx (the masters behind From dusk till Dawn, day of the dead, Land of the dead and Hostel). At least quite a few zombies deaths that made me say "cool" a few times and some great characterisations from Dean Cain, Guy Torry and Susan Ward. Guy Torry's character the army chef Judson had me in stitches, he would have rather faced off against Gordon Ramsey than be in that army kitchen.
There were a few good quotes and even a dawn of the dead eulogy comparing the original to the remake during one of the fights which i thought was cool. Hunting zombies and talking about the greatest zombie flick of all time during it has to be a stand out moment. I'm sure there will probably be a few fights over that speech by the people watching it.
All in all Dead and Deader is an enjoyable romp from beginning to end. Kinder like From Dusk till Dawn, Dead and Deader starts off as an action movie then turns into a zombie horror. The balance is just right to hold the film together for it's running time of nearly 2 hours. One to add to your zombie collection. -
MCT:January 10, 2008ok....its not truly bad...but its not good eather... theres alota fun moments i will say.... got a smoken hot chick with a movie brain i think she is pertty much a nerds wetdream... but its...eh well i dunno it just wasnt all that good... then again.... mark altman did it... soooo.... but its worth a free rental with a bunch of buds and booze... and KNB did one effect in the movie so it was worth buying for me...

A good mix of horror, comedy and romance. Something that could've been on Showtime or Sci-Fi Channel. Not a bad zombie flick, but not the best either.

Ex-Superman Dean Cain is a soldja boi who is killed on a deadly-scorpion-finding mission in Cambodia. As he is sprawled out across an autopsy table he surprisingly wakes up sans heartbeat, wanting to eat a lot of meat, and scaring the shit out of the medical examiner. Realizing he's a zombie, he plays the role of Blade and fights his own kind in attempt to rid the world of the undead flesh-eaters. He teams up with Guy Torry (think american history x) and a skanky bartender who pretends like she knows a lot about film, and together, they save the day through name-dropping, movie-referencing, and one hilarious please-rewind-that killing scene. Sucky but fun zomedy.

Dean Cain is a semi-zombie who fights hordes of full-zombies with a poor man's Mike Epps(yikes) and some chick who flashed her breasts alot. Not Bad!! Umm.. This film is the first in a series of movies which seem almost too perfect to be real, i.e. Billy Zane in "Mad"...who's coming up with this shit?! 4 stars only because my brother and Dean Cain shared a uterus.

Definately a "zomedy", its wacky, its zany, and its reasonably high budget. The premise is a little weak, but the laughs make up for it.

One of those completely wretched films that is just so bad it's super fun. Definitely worth watching for fans of camp and horror.
