This is a lot better than people seem to think. Its a good shark movie, but completely different then the more sedate Jaws and some of the scenes are actually quite scary. When i first watched this i must have been 9 years old and i WAS scared. It has humour, shocks, action what ...( read more)more could you possibly ask for? Who cares about a complicated plot, this is a popcorn blockbuster which you will enjoy for 1 1/2 hours. The simple plot works (scientist finds cure for Alzeimers in sharks brains, unfortunately sharks brains are too small for the drug to be widely produced so the scientists create genetically modified sharks that are bigger so therefore have bigger brains. Unfortunately (again) the sharks get smarter and etc. No way is that very poor excuse for a horror film is better then this shark infested tale.

Well, after a huge success of Steven Spielberg's Jaws, it is like every filmmaker in Hollywood wants to make a movie about shark, with a little different story on it, but still they don't realize their mistakes about making a type of movie like this, just like this movie did... F...( read more)irst, the story is too confusing for ordinary people.... A research with a will to help human using animals, in this movie they use shark, the story is so ordinary for a movie about animal attack... Then when the place was drowning and some people inside of it were trying to escape, it become like Poseidon I think... Even with a help from Samuel L. Jackson in this movie, I still thinking that Samuel's decision to join the cast of this movie is a big mistakes... Overall, watch it while you like the type of this movie, or you don't have another movie to watch for killing your leisure time...

Loved this high budget movie. Good script & premise. I mean smart giant sharks! how scary is that? Throw in a hurricane & being stuck in the middle of the ocean w/no help on the way & U got a recipe for a pretty desperate suspenseful situation. really liked it. Plus I give it hi...( read more)gh marks for offing the most well known actor in the movie midway through it. totally didn't expect that after the inspiring speech. Really cemented the feeling of hopeless despair after that!

A fun movie. It's well-paced, has some thrills, and may keep you guessing. It's certainly no classic, and you won't remember much the next day after seeing it, but you could do much worse for a night of movie-watching.

"Deep Blue Sea" is a awesome tearing and ripping shark feast that will make you just cringe on the edge of you're seat.
The story takes place where a trained professional shark swimmer named Carter Blake, (Thomas Jane) and 5 scientists; Dr. Susan McCallister (Saffron Burrows), Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson), Tom Scoggins (Michael Rapaport), Jim Whitlock (Stellan Skarsgard) and Janice Higgins (Jacqueline McKenzie) discover that 3 Mako sharks are intellegent while a proffesional chef Sherman Dudley, (LL Cool J). At the mean time as Carter shoots one of the Mako sharks, the scientists test and draw blood from it. As the scientists are testing the Mako shark, it escapes. As the shark is escaping it breaks and shatters the lab room glass and is hunting for siesta's. Now, everyone needs to stick together and find a way to get to the surface and kill the sharks before they escape out into other oceans and kill lots of civilians all over the world.
It has great intense violent and disturbing gruesome shark attack sequences. Its the best shark flick ive seen since "Jaws". It was highly entertaining and fast-paced throughout. It has a great incredible/outstanding cast. Just watching this flick will make you think about what it will be like being in the water with the 3 sharks and what it would feel like when the sharks seek their teeth into you.
I recommend this to anyone that absolutly loves shark flicks to death.

    "BIGGER, SMARTER, FASTER, MEANER."

    This movie is okay...

Shark's the size of a school bus, lots of bad acting, and unrealistic scenes make for a hardly convincing movie, which for me lost a lot of points. I don't mind a crazy thriller, but if im going to worry about people getting dead, I'd at least like to fee...( read more)l like it's a bit truthful...

LL Cool J saves the film from total disaster, with his cool comedy, and believe it or not - don't know if this is an insult the movie or a compliment to LL Cool J- but he's better than anyone else in the movie by far.

It's thrilling, it keeps you on the edge of your feet, and most important it's unpredictable. Most thriller/horror flicks you know who will survive and who will die right from the beginning - the one thing I had to give this movie major credit for, was that is far from the case in this one.

It's fun to watch, but it's nothing we havent seen before. Sharks, a chase, death, survival, it's not magic but it's an okay flick.

It had a great concept and starts off great, but unfortunately turns into your typical shark film with predictable deaths and terrible CGI. Even with these faults, the film is still very enjoyable, which is helped by a decent cast.
  • February 20, 2009
I saw this at the driven and loved that Sam L J got killed in the 1st half hour.
  • February 20, 2009
Yeah, you know. Super shark with almost-human intelligence. Sounds like my average day...

...( read more)are Movies Deep Blue Sea explodes in fear when scientists experiement on sharks. When they do that, things go horribly wrong when sharks strike without warning. The scientists think the sharks have got smarter somehow while they were examining them. Now the scientists must keep a good distance from the sharks by finding a way to survive before they end up being on the menu. Deep Blue Sea is one of those thrillers that actually thrills & believe me it delivers the goods. The acting is good from the cast. This movie is very fast paced with solid entertainment that keeps you on the edge, It's filled with violence including blood/gore during the shark attacks which is very intense. Those scenes are very enjoyable to watch when shown. It makes you wonder what would you do if you were in the water with those sharks. Its very scary feeling when you think about it. Overall, this movie is good & one that you can experience again & again. Deep Blue Sea is a jaw dropping adrenaline fuel thrill ride that sinks the teeth in. 4 stars

  • January 17, 2009
Wow i really want 2 see this
  • January 16, 2009
Saffron Burrows in various states of near-undress is always good, and the Samuel L. Jackson speech scene is a corker. The rest is corny, cliched, badly computer generated rubbish.
  • January 14, 2009
It a shark movie. But a super smart killer shark movie. Besides, Sam Jackson get eaten. How can you got wrong?
  • January 2, 2009
    Thrilling and captivating survival tale.
  • December 31, 2008
Jajaja ya nos habían vendido la idea de los tiburones sanguinarios pero ahora vienen con modificaciones genéticas que los hacen aun mas sangrientos y lo unen con dosis de comedia el resultado es apenas pasable.
  • December 31, 2008
