Great movie. The snake thingy looked real. Awesome movie. The way the people died were really cool. Awesome movie. The ending is great. Didn't see it coming.
The octopus was quite nicely animated actually, but I thought the movie was too clichée too the point of being plain ANNOYING.
***SPOILER WARNING***
Come on, really, you could easily figure out who would survive by just looking at them. Pretty woman, hero and comic relief character. The bad guy was the regular stock bad guy...
I think my biggest problem with this movie is that it reminds me more of a childrens cartoon rather than a suspenful or scary movie. We have the typical bad guy who wants to keep the creature for money, but gets killed. We have the "smart" hero and the lead woman who basically only contributes to this movie with her good looks. The "popular" characters get out of danger in every last second. And the ending really screams "family movie endnig" when the comic relief character of course is one of the surviving characters who appears after being assumed dead. Come on, this happened in "Jaws 4", released way before this movie, and that ending screamed "BAD!".
The "hero" and "hot woman" got on my nerves every single time they opened their mouthes. It was painful too watch them sometimes, they really didn't look like they enjoyed starring in this movie. Their performances ranges from very bad to decent. They constantly add "we are cool"-comment which irritated me even more.
Unfortunately, this is not a movie I would like to watch again.
A bad film, not that scary or suspenseful. But it had scary looking people and monsters. The only thing that sucked was the score, it wasn't scary it was action type, this is a horror film. not action.
This movie has a lot of action and great bloody scenes. Treat Williams and Famke Jenssen are awesome in this action-paced thriller about a creature killing people on Luxurious cruise ship.
Pure (but completely enjoyable) rubbish. The bad acting, dodgy effects, and stupid catchphrases alternate between being cringe-worthy or downright hilarious, and "Deep Rising" also gets bonus points for occasionally turning an action film cliche on it's head. An amusing diversion.
l thought it might be interesting because it was a monster movie focusing on Chinese deep-sea dragons, but it blows. The main actors in it are all supporting roles from other big movies.
fun monster movie. really enjoyed it, some slick special effects for the creature. Treat Williams does a great job as the main hero... cool movie...all you need is some popcorn and a hot date...
What a terrifying mystery alien in the sea since Leviathan. Classic action horror movie from The Mummy's Stephen Sommers. Famke Janesson puts in an effort. The movie is fairly entertaining to watch.
Classic B-grade action horror movie from The Mummy's Stephen Sommers, with a distinct Lovecraftian feel. Famke Janssen is, as always, a sight to behold. Best bit: while being eaten alive, Hanover takes a pot shot at his departing adversary, then turns the pistol on himself.
I loved this movie. Is it fluff with a big bang? Yeah, pretty much, but the mix of humour, action, and horror is a perfect blend, if you want my opinion, and the monster is very Lovecraftian in appearance and behaviour.
Trillian St. James: What the hell are these things? Finnegan: Real unfriendly.
A real corny b-movie from Mummy director Stephen Sommers. It is also an R-rated b monster movie, meaning that it has the chance to get a little gory, which is nice.
The movie does not take itself seriously at all, which helps, plus a surprisingly strong supporting cast of character actors.
The movie is fairly entertaining to watch, even if it doesn't make much sense at all.
Pantucci: I think she broke my nose! Trillian St. James: Give me a chance and I'll break the rest of your face. Not that anyone would notice. Pantucci: What is this about?
My cheesy gland in my brain really responds to this sci-fi action roller coaster ride. Treat Williams is tolerable here. Just sit back and enjoy and don't forget the popcorn.
(1998 Director: Stephen Sommers) Among my son & my personal mutual favorite! Thrills, plot twists, and humor combined! Treat Williams & Keven J O'Connor charter a boat for hire into the middle of nowhere...big mistake!! West Studi co-stars. Smal role by Dijimon Hounsou & Trevor Goddard (Kano from Mortal Combat)
The late Trevor Goddard has a supporting role as one of the armed hijackers who take over an ocean liner....Recognize female lead Famke Janssen (X-Men's Dr. Jean Gray)
I love this film. Good cheesy sci-fi action that never takes itself seriously. Can't ask for more than that when looking for something to kick back and enjoy with some friends.
A cross between "Titanic" and "Tremors" with parts of "Aliens" tossed in for good measure. Yet another computer generated effects film and none the worse for that.
