another good role from gael garcia bernal, as a rich kid, who invites all mates for a day of fun in his parents mexican home, eyeing up a girl, while getting ticked off with things in his life and various other things, not much else, but a good watch, esprcially for fans of him,

Gael's first time in the director's chair...and writing table too? Not a horrible movie, maybe a little too ambitious and hence kinda falling on its face a bit? There was a lot of appeal to me, just to see how the critical look at young upper class Mexicans (equivalent of the kid...( read more)s of rich yuppies), which it did well....though there is some sort of disconnect between the audience and the characters...might have a lot to do with the inexperience of the director and perhaps lack of "body" to the script. Not the worst movie of the year that a lot of Mexicans keep yelling about (self-conscious kids?) but it does lack *something*...maybe Gael could've been more bold and pointed in his critique? Could there have been more focus on the family "servants"? I got a *slight* hint of Buñuel's "Viridiana"...a nice try to recapture that film's message (does anyone in Mexico/Latin America have the gall to try and do something on that scale in our present day?) though it's execution is no where near as good. Still, I give Gael credit, it's a decent directorial debut, I'd be interested in seeing what he might write/direct next...

Really bad movie... extremely over-acted. It starts a lot of themes but finishes none. It just feel soooo incomplete, like they run out of money to make it. It can be reallistic at some times (not a lot tho), but even so, the way the actors over-act everything makes you lose th...( read more)at "realistic" feeling; besides, part of the dialogues and actions are just not logical...
