It's actually a tiny bit creepy, but light years from being a good film. The dummy is well handled on screen, but it really drags on between the few decent moments.

No doubt in my mind, that who ever wrote Chuckie, got his idea from this movie. Hugo was long before chuck was a wet spot in the writers eye. A Great B&W Britishuspense/horror film.

Tod Browning was found dead at age 82, on October 6, 1962, in the bathroom of some friends in Malibu. He is interred in Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles.

Pretty good acting with a bit of tension thrown in at the beginning and a trippy ending, made this interesting. It does go a bit slow, so it does take some of the fun out of it.

My brother was scarred as a kid when he saw this. He still talks about it to this day.

Firstly, this movie is overlong and slow. This is almost entirely due to The Great Virelli taking five minutes to drawl out one sentence. Saying that, I loved his OTT character, with his staring eyes and love of ham.
I saw this on MST (comedy), and was freaked out, even with co...( read more)nstant riffing. I HATE ventriloquist dolls. There's one bit where he lunges and my hatred of them was renewed once again. Thanks, Hugo.
