I would say that this is Bruce willis's finest film, he played his role well along with the other actors, and i thought that the film had a very good plot so yea 5 stars
One of the best action movies ever made. The plot is solid, the comedy is present, but the action kicks a$$!!! Bruce Willis does a great job in the role he was born to play and ends up pulling off a story many others couldn't.
THE classic actiomovie with the classic story of a hero cop fighting against a bunch of gangsters. This is what I compare all the other action movies with.
Man,i love this fucking movie.Canīt stop watching it every time.Bruce Willis gives an great perfomance as tough cop John McClane, a guy who doesnīt like to be a hero but he has a lot of guts on facing all the odds. 20 years after itīs release,Die Hard is still the greatest action movie of all time. Some movies canīt match this classic.Yippee Ki Yay,Motherfucker!!
This is the most realistic of all 4. Not that that's a bad thing for the others, but it made you feel like he wasn't going to make it in this one. By the 2nd Die Hard, John Mcclane is INVINCIBLE
bruce willis' best movie. hans gruber is a very good villain. this is one of the best action movies. yippee ki yay motherfucker is one of the best lines ever

Die Hard is an instant action classic that launched Bruce Willis?s career over night. He was having moderate success with his television show Moonlighting but the success of Die Hard catapulted his to stardom. Die Hard is a well rounded movie that works on many levels. Alan Rickman who portrays Hans Gruber the leader of the terrorists that seize control of the building does a phenomenal job in stealing the show. Die Hard had two breakout performances and Rickman was the other one. John McTiernan does a great job with his direction and repairing a jumbled mess when he was first handed the script. Die Hard will go down as on of the best action movies in cinematic history. The original Die Hard receives five yippe-ky-yays out of five for being one of the action best movies of all time that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the credits begin to roll at the end.
Tightly bound, briskly paced, this is the film that almost singlehandedly created the modern action movie, for better or for worse. It's good filmmaking, and Bruce Willis is everyone's favorite badass.
I've seen every Die Hard movie out because Bruce Willis is like the best person to play this role. No one else can top him in this movie. Props to Bruce
i'll remember this movie i was 7 or 8 year-old when i saw in the theater way back in 1988. and it was awesome action 80's film with preformed bruce willis is play john mcclane is the new york cop visit california to see his wife and his 2 kids in christmas.
however terrorist came and lots of hostage and john mcclane became a heroes fought the terrorists and the terriorist leader han gruber(alan rickman his movie debut)in christmas eve.
based on the book by roderick thorp. and follow sequel by "die hard 2: die harder", "die hard with a vengeance", and "live free
or die hard".
die hard has to be one of the best action flicks of the 80`s and also one of the best action filcks ever made. alan rickman was the perfect villain and also bruce willis was great as playing the role of john mcclane which also made Bruce Willis one of the top action superstars of the 1980's. the film had a good plot , a good story , good action sences and also good specail effects and most of all a good cast of characters. this movie is based on the 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp titled Nothing Lasts Forever, itself a sequel to the book The Detective, which was previously made into a 1968 movie starring Frank Sinatra which i didn`t think was good. this has to be John McTiernan best movie he has ever made and there couldn`t of been a better person to direct this film than himself. die hard has to be one of the best films ever made and also it is one of my favourite action films i have ever seen and also i like the tagline for this movie which is YIPPPIE-KI-YAY MOUTHER FUCKER!
Bruce's famous role and the one of the most memorable line.
"Yippee kay yay mothefucker'
Founding Father Of the ACTION MOVIES.After so many years this movie still considered as One of the Best Action Movies Of All Time.it released in 1988 by John Mctiernan (Director also did Die Hard With Vengeance)The movie is based on a 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp titled Nothing Lasts Forever, itself a sequel to the book The Detective, which was previously made into a 1968 movie starring Frank Sinatra. But it was much more better.John McClane, a detective with the New York City Police Department, arrives in Los Angeles to attempt a Christmas reunion with his estranged wife Holly. He is taken by limousine driver Argyle to her workplace, the highrise Nakatomi Plaza. While Argyle waits in the building's parking garage, McClane joins the Nakatomi Christmas party, where he meets Holly's boss Joseph Takagi and sleazy co-woker Ellis. He finally finds Holly and they immediately get into an argument over her use of her maiden name Gennaro. Holly leaves McClane in a small room near the party.
A gang led by the suave and refined German terrorist Hans Gruber invades and secures the building, under the pretense of gaining the release of various terrorist operatives. So the adventure goes...... Die Hard was listed at #39 on the American Film Institute's 100 Years, 100 Thrills List of the most thrilling American movies of all time in 2001.
Hans Gruber was listed at #46 on the AFI's 50 greatest villains list from their 100 Years, 100 Heroes and Villains special. John McClane's infamous line (imitated by Hans Gruber in the film's final minutes), "Yippee Ki Yay, Motherfucker" was voted as #96 of "The 100 Greatest Movie Lines" by Premiere Magazine in 2007.
The most perfect action trilogy, with the exception of number 4 (which I personally think shouldn't have been made). The best part of this trilogy is that it was consistantly great and always enjoyable.
Start at 1988 and see how many action movies can be summarized as "Die Hard, but on a bus". "Die Hard, but on a plane". "Die Hard, but on a submarine". The list goes on. Smart and fast-paced, this movie turned the action genre on its head with an everyman whose muscled weren't oiled up like a body-builder and who actually oozed fear (gasp!) every time he did something likely to get him killed. In other words, John McLane wasn't a superhero, he was a hero, and that made it much easier to identify with him. One of the best movies in its genre to date.
Classic action movie. Once it gets going it never stops. Alan Rickman as the memorable villain, Hans Gruber, is great. A star making performance for Bruce Willis.
die hard as to be one of the best action flicks of the 80`s and also one of the best action films of all time and that is why it makes this an instant classic. , Alan Rickman is a great villan and like with bruce willis is a great hero. This film was the turning point in modern action films - the moment when they moved from the unstoppable one-man army of Rambo, Commando, Predator, Cobra, etc, and introduced the more realistic everyman action hero - a normal guy forced to act in an extreme situation. this film had really good action sences and alos good specail effects. from John McTiernan's direction, to Jan DeBont's cinematography, to Michael Kamen's score is what makes this film one of the best action films of all time and speaking of bruce willis i reckon he was the best actor of the 80`s after al pacino because i think al pacino is the greatest movie actor of the 80`s and bruce willis is the second best actor of the 80`s. i haven`t seen this movie in a while , i want to see it again.
Die Hard is the gold standard to which all other action films will forever be compared. A perfect film in virtually every aspect, from John McTiernan's direction, to Jan DeBont's cinematography, to Michael Kamen's score, to every actor's performance across the board: Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, William Atherton, Reginald Veljohnson, ...and especially Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.
This film was the turning point in modern action films - the moment when they moved from the unstoppable one-man army of Rambo, Commando, Predator, Cobra, etc, and introduced the more realistic everyman action hero - a normal guy forced to act in an extreme situation. Often imitated (to varying degrees of success) with the "Die Hard on a _____" formula, that only speaks to not only the quality of the film itself, but its impact on the genre.
Bruce Willis' career skyrocketed after this, and while he's never quite made anything that's lived up to this first film, I have greatly enjoyed all the Die Hard sequels.
