I love movies about dancing, and this is one of the best I've seen. Diego Luna is charming and terrific dancer. He and Romola Garai have great chemistry.
Just don't expect it to be anything about the first Dirty Dancing movie. It's not. The only similarities are that it's about dancing and that it contains Patrick Swayze (for about five minutes). It's not bad if you can put that aside.
Eighteen year old Katey Miller (Romola Garai) is Shy & intelligent to moves from United States to Havana, Cuba with her parents in November 1958 just before the Revolution. Kately falls in love with a Waiter named Javier Suarez (Diego Luna) is a a talented club dancer in the titular Cuban style in a Havana nightclub the pair practice their Salsa dance routine in preparation for a prestigious national dance competition.
I know I'm supposed to hate this, but I really liked this! Although I think it would have been better if they'd just called it Havana Nights or something, because it's not at all like 'Dirty Dancing'. I have to admit the acting overall is not superbe, but the music and dancing is really good! (Orishas is in it! And I've seen them in real life!)
Sequels are never good when they don't have the original actors. Therefore, to make this sequel work, it would need to be made a couple years earlier and it would need Swayze and Gray!
I really enjoyed watching this movie. It had excellent dancing, and I loved it when the girl showed her family what she could do on the dance-floor. Beautiful
this movie is about dirty dancing and when i say "dirty dancing" i mean it , and the dancing is sexy the movie is wonderful, its from the movies that i recommend people to watch . good movie. H.M

Like the original, this movie strives on its dancing to entertain. However, dancing is only like 10% of the film. The rest of the film is just like the original and is very slow and predictable. If you really want to watch dancing, I suggest you just search the web for excerpts, otherwise the movie will bore you to death.
I honestly like this better then I like the movie Dirty Dancing...there is way more latin dancing, it is sexier and the dances look like they'd be more fun to do!
I actually like this better than the first once! the first one has some classic scenes but in terms of the whole film i could watch this all and say i loved ALL the film! the dance at the end was amazing - as was the dancing all the way thru and it helped that diego luna is a cutie!!
Actors were terrible. There wasn't any chemistry. The songs were not sung by original artists. Music didn't go with era...pfft! I am surprised they used Patrick Swayze for several appearances.
