A pretty decent low budget Norwegian horror film. Slightly tongue in cheek humour as well, very gory in places. A bit slow to start but the climax towards the end is great from such a little production. A perfect winter horror for zombie, gore fans!

Yet another in the old Norwegian-Nazi-zombies-on-a-mountain-top genre, Dod Sno starts really well with shocks and suspense right from the off, with brilliant use of the music from Peter And The Wolf. Then it settles down into the usual teenagers heading to a log cabin, to be pick...( read more)ed off by an unseen menace to dodgy hard rock. Doh. The idea of Nazi zombies is irresistible to the point of being amazing that it hasn't been done before (not least by Tarantino!) Unfortunately it doesn't really run with the idea; the only way you know they're Nazis is because of their uniforms, and the fact that they think, run around and can be killed by conventional weapons means they aren't even proper zombies in the conventional movie sense. It does have some shocks, nice effects and occasionally inventive direction, and the snow covered setting makes it different enough to be worth a look but what it lacks is a sense of FUN. Instead it's just an excuse throw buckets of fake blood and guts around, and like Severance, for what is supposed to be a black comedy, it isn't particularly funny. A decent schlock horror film, but if the director had been a bit more concerned with invention than intestines it could've been so much more.

Hype Alert! There is nothing to really distinguish this film from other middle of the road zombie flicks, other than an intriguing location and an interesting back story. Unfortunately, neither is utilized in a way that would rise above other zombie outings. In fact, I found i...( read more)t frustrating that they under utilized what could've really given this film some teeth.

The final third is a bit of a mess, but has a few fun moments. It's a bit of a slog to finally get it to, but it help redeem it to some extent.

No one to care about or root for once again, not even the zombies. Sad.

    REVIEW

Obviously influenced by...( read more) the likes of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy and the early films of Peter Jackson, this deliriously B-grade splatter-fest from Norway is something of a guilty pleasure. A group of horny, good-looking medical students head off for a weekend of skiing, sex and drinking. But then they receive an ominous warning about some evil force lurking in the remote forest from a wandering stranger. And before long our heroes find themselves under attack from a horde of zombie Nazis, who have been hiding in the area for the past sixty years. There will be blood, a blitzkrieg of gore, body parts and intestines strewn over the snowy forest. The characters are a cross section of the usual stereotypes Hollywood has established for this genre. Director Tommy Wirkola is something of a horror film aficionado, and he gleefully takes a chainsaw to the clichés and conventions of the genre, deftly mixing gory carnage with tongue-in-cheek humour. The first zombie horror film from Scandinavia, Dead Snow is a brilliant homage to the B-grade horror and cheap gory effects of those early Raimi and Jackson films, and will satisfy fans of the genre.

I doubt I've ever seen a film from Norway before, but this one surely made me want to watch more. I loved the idea of the Nazi zombies, and they were actually presented as no zombie films ever has before: almost human-like in behavior and movement -not just brainless (no pun inte...( read more)nded!) slow-walking dummies eating spilled guts.

Agreeably diverting and amusing, a smart low-budget horror film that made it all the way around the globe. The characters are likable enough and the performances as good as they can be in a zombie film. The soundtrack is great and really adds to the movie and offers it a certain tone and spin. I loved the Shaun of the Dead twist in it, even though it could never be as good, but it surely exceeded most zombie films I've seen in the last few years. Of course it's not a masterpiece, but it sets out to entertain and do solely that, and it succeeds every step of the way

A fantastic Norwegian slasher/zombie horror movie with some subtle dark humour thrown into the mix. 6 teenagers finds themselves under attack from a platoon of Nazi zombies up in the snowy mountains when they discover their hidden stash of loot from WW2. These aren't your normal ...( read more)run of the mill zombies - they can run and have some intelligence. The deaths are extremely bloody with limbs and intestines being splattered all over the place. Gore fans will love it. Overall this is a fun zombie movie to watch.

Typical story with a group of friends going to an isolated cabin to party, then getting killed off. The characters and plot were pretty weak but I wasn't really expecting much from a film about nazi-zombies. It delivered lot's of blood and awesome gore scenes so i was happy, that...( read more)'s all you can really ask from a movie like this.

I found this film to be quite retarded, the dialogue sequences between the characters made me want to shoot myself, and the Zombie's weren't much of an improvent. Also I found that Nazi zombies actually existing was more believable than the bunch of dumbass that killed most of th...( read more)em. Still this film has made a new list of horror for me that I will call Intestine -Gore.

The concept sounded so exciting but the film doesn't exactly shift the zombie paradigm and as a result is just another zombie film but with uniforms. Bleh!

    Dead Snow
    - 7/10; Not bad at all. Actually when you consider the type of movie it is, it seems pretty good. There are some glaring mistakes, typical horror movie goofs and character stupidity - and that puts you off for a minute or two - but if you stiick with you get a good dos...( read more)e of humor, action, gore and horror all rolled into a single pill that is Dead Snow. I saw a dubbed version so I think it lost a little in translation at the beginning but over the course of the movie, it gets better. The cast is okay, nothing special but Lasse Valdal was definitely the star of the show.
