good film got this boxing day
Asks some good questions of organised religion. Original story and very funny. Just listen to Matt Damon's (Loki's) opening speech
Smith takes a humorous approach to religion, Angels vs exiles from hell vs the last scion. This movie provides an insight into religion and its many fallicies.
Seriously, what's the big deal with this movie? People don't understand why I hate it, but I only laughed maybe twice, and it's supposed to be a comedy. Initially, I didn't see the appeal (maybe I was more cranky because I watched it when I was ill) but I decided to give it a cha...( read more)
Now that I own this on DVD and have seen it several times I can say that Kevin Smith is a guy that makes some of the very most rewatchable films of all time. He writes in such a way that seems to make things just as enjoyable each time around. His cheesy jokes are never self seri...( read more)
Smith makes good use of biblical in joke banter between all these characters. Almost better than what I can do with film references.
This movie is so funny. It keeps you laughing the entire way through.
i never want to see that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
such a beautiful fucking movie that proves that somehow Ben Affleck does have the ability to act deep within him.
How can you not love Smith's take on religion doesn't hurt that this is the best cast the he has had in any of his films.
I'm a christian, and I absolutely ADORE this film. There are few things in the world that could do with some self deprechiating humour then religion. I hope there are some angels like alan rickman up there.
Rude, crude, and far from PC. Just what this nations need. If you like a good laugh on religion, you cant go wrong with this film.
How did they get away with this intelligent yet wickedly funny, highly controversial and expertly satirical film? Just see the beginning of the film to see what I mean; if they can turn nuns, they can turn anybody.
It's heretic and fun, childish and makes me smile. And I who like religion as a sweet story, loves how they toy with all the strange things in the bible.
Funny, outrageous, and slightly disturbing. On par with Monty Python's Life of Brian.
Kevin Smith's movies all seem so boring, not at all fun, and crappy.
How can people like them???
o_O
Clever, insightful, with definite point of view. The acting is good and the larger metaphysical questions it raises are intriguing. Watch it with a friend, and it can trigger some interesting discussions.
Not the funniest thing I've ever seen but still it has its moments, even if some scenes were a little too OTT. The cast did a great job, and I did love the little references to John Hughs, which I know Smith did in love. I also thought some of the points about religion made in th...( read more)
Dogma is firmly rooted in Kevin Smith's View Askew world so fans of his other films will not be disappointed. However, it also expands on the direction he took in Chasing Amy by dealing with subject matter and concepts that are personal and thought provoking. Dogma goes beyond th...( read more)
