The hideously stupid Mike Meyers comedy of a cat character from Dr Seuss who causes trouble, is actually worse than you might think. The cat is just creepy and obnoxious and nobody else in this is likeable.
What a minute? Did you hear that sound? Oh, that's just Dr. Seuss rolling over in his grave over the rape of his most beloved character The Cat in the Hat. Mike Myers, the unfunniest funny guy in Hollywood screws the pooch on this deal. Myers, who apparently can only do a Scottish accent that would make Sean Connery punch him in the face. You may want to compare this to How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the only way i can explain the difference is in this way: Jim Carrey becomes The Grinch. The Cat in the Hat becomes Mike Myers. This is on the list of worst films ever personally seen by myself. The only person in this film that was worth a damn is Alec Baldwin. yes, Alec Baldwin is in this. And Paris Hilton. And that gay guy on Will and Grace who is really gay. No, I don't watch Will and Grace, but visited IMDb. Honest.
So this movie was pretty awful! It starts out okay, then the stupid/scary cat shows up all hell breaks loose for no apperant reason except to teach these really bland kidsa bout fun and then lessons are learned and I barf and the ending scene with the mom is whimsy and then it's sugar coated cute and then it's over. Now where do I begin to point out how horrible this is? Well first- are we to belive this takes place in the real world? They make it seem so, but the total lack of any realism (look at the opening shot- where do they live?!) shuts that idea down! I only laughed hard a few times, mostly because the joke was about something true- otherwise some chuckles and not much else but the thought that even kids wouldn't like this! The Cat frankly, is scary, it would have haunted me if I were a kid and this really only proves that Mike Myers can only do Shrek or a Nathan Lane from 'The Birdcage' chanaling cause that's all the Cat was! And what happened to tiptoing around adult jokes? Rather they just cross the line, devoting entire scenes to adult only humor! As well the story dosn't make sense and the visuals are fake, editing was really bad here- like discontinuity everywhere! Shelve it and keep it away from living eyes please! This never should have been made!
Mike Myers is a riot, love the scene sets, costuming... lots of funny stuff, kept my little guy, his friends and a group of parents laughing throughout. Not boring at all, great characters, too. I love when Dr. Seuss comes to life on the big screen!
This movie was really weird for a kids movie and some of the stuff in there I thought was a little too mature for it's target audience. I usually like Mike Myers but this movie was a let down. Who didn't read this book as a kid? They didn't seem to follow it too well. It's no wonder that Dr. Seuss's wife declared that no more of his stories could be made into films using real actors after seeing this film. It's kind of a disgrace to Dr. Seuss's brillance.
Sally and Conrad Walten are in for a day that they will never forget. Tired of Conrad?s constant rule breaking, his mom is threatening him with military school. Sally and Conrad must stop there mom from marrying the conniving neighbor who wants Sally and Conrad out of the way. With the help of a mischievous, magical talking cat, Sally and Conrad must expose the neighbor for the fraud he is and save their mom and most of all their family.
The Cat In The Hat fails on so many levels. The movie is based off a children?s book by the renowned Dr. Seuss and the screenplay writer manages to butcher a fantastic children?s story by placing sexual innuendos in a really stale script. The acting in the movie could not even save a weak script. Mike Myers who portrays the Cat in the Hat has really hit an awful skid of bad movies since his Austin Powers mega hits. The cast seemed lost, the script was stale, and the direction of the film was almost non-existent. The Cat In The Hat receives one fur ball out of five for being a horrid telling of a children?s classic. Stay away.
A real dissapointment. I thought that it would be hilarious but it wasnt that good at all really. Mike Myers was good and so was Spencer Breslin, Dakota Fanning, Alec Baldwin and Kelly Preston.
cat-the super luxurious omni directional whajamajiger.

conrad-.....oh you mean SHI..

this movie was a mess it was terrible and the jokes were terrible full of adult humor when it should have been more geared to young kids which the book is geared for I was very disappointed and my kids will not see this movie! everyone associated with this movie should be ashamed!
