Anthony Eisley, J. Carrol Naish, Jim Davis

Cult director Al Adamson brings The kings of horror together in one film - they meet in a fight of fright! Judith Fontaine (Regina Carrol) is looking for her sister Joanie, who has apparently disappea...( read more  read more... )red into the hippie community of Venice, California. As it turns out, Joanie has become the victim of Groton (Lon Chaney Jr.), an axe-wielding homicidal maniac. Dr. Durray (J. Carrol Naish), the last of the Frankensteins' bloodline, is now running a house of horrors by the beach and has been performing experiments on Groton's victims. One night, Count Dracula (Zandor Vorkov) visits the doctor, showing him the original Frankenstein creation that was buried in a nearby graveyard. With Dracula's help, the doctor painstakingly revives Frankenstein, and uses it to take revenge on his professional rivals. This entry in Troma Team Video’s Al Adamson collection comes with a commentary track by producer Sam Sherman and a featurette "Producing Schlock."

LON CHANEY JR & RUSS TAMBLYN in the same film? You might ask yourself; "How can you go wrong?". And you need only watch this little gem, to see all of the ways you / they CAN GO WRONG.

To start there is the sad realization that Chaney's role here (one of his last) is one of ...( read more)few words and consists of moans, grunts and overly dramatic close-ups. And Russ Tamblyn is all but a "blip" on the screen before (Chaney himself) "gives him the axe".

Once you get past that, there is the fact that "Dracula" for some reason appears to be of middle eastern decent and speaking through a really bad P.A. system and that "Frankenstein's" head appears to have been made of papier-mache...it's all good!

The definate "star" of this show is Regina Carrol as Vegas Superstar "Judith Fontaine" forced to take a sabbatical from her big Vegas show (the clips of which are a high point of the film) to go to California to look for her missing sister. To put it kindly, Regina / Judith is a "hot mess" and at the same time a delight to watch. Her film credits on IMDB sound AMAZING and I want to see them ALL.

While I wouldn't recomend this film for "horror fans"...I would HIGHLY recomend it for fans of "cheesy 60's & 70's horror". It's painfully bad at times, yet (in this instance) I really appreciated it's badness.

A mind-boggling mish-mash of footage culled from a number of uncompleted films. If you like Adamson, this is a must. If you don't, give it a pass.

How you react to this film will depend entirely on your appetite for Z-grade schlock. Fans of cheese monger Adamson will revel in the numerous continuity errors (check out the various incarnations of Dracula's face make-up), an ad-hoc plot and laughable dialogue. To be fair to Ad...( read more)amson the largely incoherent script was forced on him by producer Sam Sherman - apparently he was looking for more bangs for his bucks (hence the abysmal "bad-guy" skirmish and pointless ageing hippies sub-plot).

Amongst the random stock shots of surfers and protestors (there's even some shots of a seagull!), there are some wonderfully awful pieces of cinema that will have you shaking your head in disbelief. The acting is woeful (Naish is obviously reading a card and Chaney is reduced to gurning at the camera) and the effects made on the back of a 10 cent budget.

Not everyone loves this train wreck of a feature but I enjoyed it purely for its sheer stupidity value. Sit back and enjoy.

A piece-of-shit pieced-together film. Best parts were held by Lon Chaney Jr and Grayden Clark (star, writer, director, etc of Bad Bunch, one of my favorite movies). Though it wasnt made by Troma (they didnt exist yet), but it is distributed by them and is nearly as terrible as mo...( read more)st of their work. Ugliest/goofiest Frankenstein ever combined with a terrible actor doing Dracula makes the fun campiness aspects get drown out.

Another mind bongling expliotation anti-masterpiece from z movie auter Al Adamson. Here's what you get:ACount Dracula with big booga booga teeth and a Mike Brady man-perm hairdo and a cool gumball machine ring that shoots a cartoon deathray: a Frankenstien Monster with the face o...( read more)f a mushy Halloween pumpkin;Lon Chaney as a dimwit axe killer, the heroine tripping out on LSD;a Vegas musical number,Angello Rossitto as an evil dwarf,J.Carrol Naish as the mad doctor, and Forrest J Ackerman getting offed by the Monster. I watched years ago and taped on vhs. Funny movie, a psychedelic horror. Hey, there is Forrest J.Ackermann as a victim of the Monster. Dracula dismembers piece by piece the Monster (funny scene). Groton is a zombie-a-like and he' a 'molester' of lovers (it's bad, man! haha!)
