Dragonfly

Kevin Costner, Susanna Thompson, Joe Morton, Ron Rifkin, Kathy Bates

"Belief gets us there," explains nun Linda Hunt to grieving widower Kevin Costner, an emergency room doctor whose ordered world is startled by "messages" from his dead wife. She's talking about the jo...( read more  read more... )urney from life to death, but it describes the doctor's road from fact to faith equally well as he puzzles out the otherworldly events of his life. Costner's mourning comes off less lost and sad than simply emotionless and inert, but he finds good support from Kathy Bates as his sassy neighbor. Her appearances, along with a few startling horror-movie-type shocks, energize a film otherwise shrouded in loss, grief, and the hushed mood of supernatural spookiness. It's like a fusing of Ghost, The Sixth Sense, and The Mothman Prophecies, a New Age melodrama in a sentimental key that works through a rather contrived mystic mystery to a glowing climax. This is less a ghost story than a modern twist on the old-fashioned miracle. --Sean Axmaker

a very workable watchable film moving from modern chicagoland hospitals to the jungles of venezula, a tale of love that at first questions a doctor's sanity only to later prove to remarkably trancend the uncrossable divide, even death.

I really wanted to like this movie more. The supernatural aspect of this thriller was interesting but the unrealistic medical scenes blew it for me. This movie was also rather predictable and ending sucked.

I have really had it up to HERE with jump scares. My days of being impressed by loud sudden sounds are over, as is my capacity to appreciate this film. Dragonfly comes too close on the heels of The Mothman Prophecies to be considered novel, and too badly handles to be very entert...( read more)aining. The story itself was not half bad, but it would have sustained a short film better than a feature. This film gets extra points for the unique ending, though. I have to admit that I've never seen anything like it in horror.

Dragonfly was a very unique film with Kevin Costner. Kevin plays a husband whom looses his wive in a foregin land. Costner starts to get messages from his dead wife and starts to have many odd experiences. This is a very interesting film to check out.

The ending is extremely cute and heartwarming. Although, the film itself isn't entirely perfect and slow in parts. The supernatural aspect about it and the plot behind is pretty moving and tense, not predictable and Kevin Costner pulls of a great performance!
