MCT:June 14, 2008There's very few redeeming moments in this film and it looks like it was made for about $15. Still, it does capture the scuzzy feel of New York in the late seventies, though not nearly as well as the all-time classic Taxi Driver.

MCT:November 19, 2007See what horrors noisy neighbors have on society. They can drive your truly normal "joe" Abel Ferrara into becoming a DRILLER KILLER! This is a great stylish film about a man who is losing his mind. Despite the title, this really isn't a slasher flick, but a disturbing look at insanity by the great Ferrara.

Driller Killer falls victim of many of its own trappings-mostly the alliteration of its own cool ass title when the whole thing would have been better off if the premise of a killer w/ a power drill wasn't even conceived; it actually muddles a little film that slightly looks @ New York during the punk movement (even if most of the band's songs sound like Peter Gunn) & an interesting look @ schizophrenia. Instead once the drill starts-a-spinning so does all logic and the entire project collapses...on the brighter side David Hess is in talks for the remake (surprise-surprise! A remake Im looking forward to)

Good film. It was banned in the UK until 1999. Its title became synonymous with the term video nasty. Prob Ferrara best film

One of the most infamous of the early slasher flicks, the film suffers from poor directing and mediocre acting. It's just an excuse to maim, murder, and torture beautiful young women with power tools--and the film doesn't even do that well.

Very odd horror movie! The first half an hour it is quite boring, nothing happens but then all of a sudden the killer gets mad and there's awful scenes! Those murder scenes are then interrupted by a live rock band playing rock'n'roll. Not good rock'n'roll, a gang of losers, but loud it is. So then I understood why at the beginning of the movie there is the following message:This film should be played LOUD.The sound quality of this film is very bad and that's a pity. But I like the ending of the movie very much. It is left to the viewer's imagination.

Firstly a grimy first person account of an artist's descent into madness, secondly a surprisingly evocative journey through the New York City underground scene of the late-70s. Director Ferrara rather effectively plays the titular nutbag, which, from what I've read and heard, isn't too far from the real him!

right to the point, this movie sucked ass. the lighting was bad, the story even worse, the violence was about as bad as bad gets and well if i go on i'll have my own novel so BEST BEWARE OF THIS TITLE!!!! if a movie could be rated any less this would get it....***ZERO STARS FOR SET, DIRECTION, ACTING AND EVERYTHING ELSE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TRIPE***

The focus was far too much on the band which made the killings seem like a small side-plot, when it was supposed to be other way round.
