Good movie. Proves that Rupert Grint can play other roles aside from Ron...although his character was quite similar to Ron. Anyway, this was a funny movie that I enjoyed.
-
This film was excellent. Julie Walters and Rupert Grint both do an excellent job. Unbelievably good.
-
I saw some of this. I don't know yet if Rupert Grint can act, but I do find him compelling, even when he's not a Weasley. The presence of Julie Waters and Laura Linney makes it acceptable that I want to see the rest.
-
great movie... loved the interaction... thought it could have been better in places, but overall a good movie.
-
An excellent partner to Grint's acting dossier. Brilliant, superb, any adjective I can think of, aptly describes this.
-
I absolutely love this movie! It has such heart and all the acting was brilliant. Julie Walters was hilarious.
-
Great to see Rupert Girnt out of is Ron roll of Harry Potter. This film was very witty and outlandish.
-
This movie was actually pretty entertaining, which was surprising to me because of a few characters that were casted.
-
a really sweet movie. the actors all did well to portray such difficult and truly bizarre characters. rupert grint did well by his awkard character and julie walters was great as ever! perfect to watch for anyone who likes nice, slightly funny and thoroughly quirky movies! (A British movie through and through!)

A simple, fun movie :D although Linney does set my teeth on edge and make me feel like slapping her at times. Walters is as endearingly eccentric and irrational as Grint is as nice and sensible.
"So young and so pedantic... One glass. "
"Don't feel guilty. Guilt is a wicked ghost." -
Yes, I saw this BECAUSE of Rupert but I love the subtle humor within this gorgeous "break away" (how i refer to it) story.
-
As a story it was a good idea but as for it being exciting and interesting it could use some work, but if you get into it early on then it really is a wonderful movie.

Because I would very much like to see Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe succeed in their acting work beyond the wonderful Harry Potter movies, I wanted very badly to see this. But because Laura Linney is a part of the project, I didn't exactly fire this one up my netflix queue. It finally did bubble to the top, and I've watched this now three times with great interest.
The good news is that Linney does not appear throughout. In fact screen time is so dominated by the relationship between Grint and Julie Walters that Linney fairly fades into the background, appearing only in the bookend (dismal) home life scenes for Grint.
The better news is that Linney plays quite a villainous role; she's perfect for that kind of work.
The best news, however, is that Grint does manange to do a good job of playing the repressed 17-year-old coming of age under the apt tutelage of masterfully has-been actress Walters. Their relationship is a thing of intricately problematic beauty, and both play their parts with brilliant authenticity.
You know, it's funny watching "Ron and Mrs. Weasley" function in a different arena. It is as if Grint, in this gem of a film, is living under the stairs on horrid Privet Drive and is trying to find his way to the wholesome environs of The Burrow. I am feeling optimistic about Grint's chances to go on and do good work once the HP franchise has run its course.
Last but certainly not least: Whoohoo! I want to see more of Michelle Duncan. Makes me want to jump on a plane for Scotland : )

I was so excited for this. I absolutely love Walters. Linney and Grint are great too. It ended being a so-so indie.
-
Just watched this movie and thought it was pretty good. Julie Walters and Rupert Grint were both amazing. This movie reminded me a lot of Harold and Maude (only minus the darkness and romance :P)

no estuvo mal...tiene un buen mensaje y no es como aprender a guiar un carro, si no a como aprender a guiar tu vida en la toma de decisiones ahiiiiiiii jeje
-
This was an interesting watch... rupert gave a great performance and linney was scary as his mother.. a good step out for rupert.
-
The message is, go out and live, start deciding for yourself. This message is important and the cast of the movie is pretty good, otherwise it wouldn't have gotten three stars.

Driving Lessons is a lovely film from over the pond in the UK.
Julie Walters, Laura Linney, and Rupert Grint all shine in this film. This film centers on a young man (Grint) whom is coming of age and working towards his drivers license. His controlling mother (Linney) can not let go and only wants the best for him. During this time he gets a job from a once very big actress (Walters) whom really gets his eyes open to the world....it is funny and poigniant, very worth watching. -
wasnt a particularly great movie, jumps around a lot, you can see why Julie Walters is a excellent actress, it was also nice to see Rupert out of his HP mode
-
I was interested in this mainly to see how Rupert Grint did outside a Harry Potter movie. He did OK but the movie was a bit of a slog.
-
It was kind of weird, but good weird. it manages to introduce a lot of issues and subjects in a nice interesting and new way
-
EEXCELLENT movie! i loved it!
Rupert Grint is great; he looks pretty different here, very different from his role in Harry Potter. Julie Walters just beautiful. -
Good movie. Takes you back to your own awkward teen years and throws in some good laughs and some heartfelt moments!
