When handsome Jeronimo (Victor Alcazar) is hired to tutor rich heiress Josefa (Julia Pena), the sparks quickly fly and the pair falls in love. But their romance is short-lived when the church condemns their relationship and locks Josefa away in a convent. Upon discovering that Josefa is pregnant, church officials sentence her to death by decapitation. This only intensifies Jeronimo's determination to recue his lover, though the odds of a happy ending decrease substantially when he is captured and imprisoned. Later, a powerful earthquake strikes the city, and the two young lovers forge on into an uncertain fate. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
