As a fan of Naomi Watts I had to see this so called comedy about life in Hollywood. Watts is amazing as usual and manages to keep the movie interesting. I wouldn't call it a comedy though - there is a few fun moments but I think it's more of a half-serious documentary that portrays how acting can be in Hollywood. Due to the limited, though fitting and effective, cinematography and the simplicity of the story the grade can only be average.

I chuckled in this movie. So many things were like roberts movies - all her auditions were like exactly the same as the TLC ones. the whole crying thing was so funny becuase i do it too. However, BOOOORRING apart from these things. there were contstandly scenes with no dialogue and just her walking or driving - these bits made me wanna cut myself deep. ending = dynamic shit. naomi watts was hilarous though - practicaly the only thing good about it . best like "I suck his cock, I suck Vinny's cock i sucked all their cocks" - gold. visually, it looked like never say never - or in other words, shit.

I really liked Naomi Watts in this film, but I'm convinced that she and Nicole Kidman are THE SAME PERSON. The audition scenes were really uncomfortable to watch, only because they were so true. The story dragged on a bit at some points, and I think the film would have been better if it were shorter. And the filming style was heinously bad in some scenes. Even indie film-makers should obey some basic framing laws, otherwise it just looks very high school. Anyway, the performances are the main thing and Naomi was great. I felt really sad for her at the end.

The important thing in a character piece like this is that you like the characters. I honestly couldn't give a crap about the superficial, self absorbed LA half people portrayed in this film. I found it painful to watch and only got half way through.

The over indy style of it has hard to sit through too. No one who is this bad with a hand held should be allowed to film ANYTHING. I've done plenty of zero budget stuff and none of it looked this bad. And Naomi, stop spiking the camera! Avoid.

Bobinho.

An extremely uncomfortable movie-going experience. I would never watch it again. But Naomi Watts kept my interest in a truly brave performance. Apparently this was supposed to be funny? I think I smiled twice. It's not that dramatic or eventful either. The best way to describe this is "uncomfortable."

A funny but sad story about an unknown actress struggeling to get parts in movies and make a big star out of herself. Though it isn't that simple.
Naomi Watts is great and hilarious as Ellie Parker and Scott Coffey makes room for very special characters.

An odd little film that seems like a home movie made by a bunch of pals. I'm a big Naomi Watts fan, and to be honest, I think you have to be to enjoy this. She's pretty much playing herself as a struggling actress, driving around to auditions, doing her make up in the car, being asked to do odd things in auditions. There's some fun stuff with her pal Rebecca Riggs and director Scott Coffey pops up as well. The hand held DV look suits Ellie's frantic life, and I found it to be very entertaining. Not for everyone though.

shot as a short in early 2001, director coffey and star niomi watts, returned a few years later, and completed a film, watts plays ellie a aspiring actress in hollywoodas she spends her days going from audition to audition, she tries to make sence of her life with personal problems getting in the way of her daily routine, she is someone who knows what she wants, but will she get it, as usuall watts is on fire here, she really is up the top of the list at the moment, a great career, love the look of this film as well, shot on d.v digital video, gives it a raw edge, anmd helps show her state of mind, great l.a locations, and as shot on d.v they did things you cant usually do, watts driving a car while changing for a audition, is one of many amusimng situations, along with some awkward auditions, another great look at hollywood and its weird ways

Didn't know what to think at first, this movie was shot in a chaotic fashion, following Ellie through every nook of her downward-spiraling life. But Naomi Watts is adorable, and after watching her in The Ring, King Kong, and The Painted Veil, it's downright fascinating. At times it's like watching a car-wreck :)

Really interesting, and kinda funny. Naomi Watts was pretty good in it, but i didn't like the tone of the movie too much.

Should go straight to video stores. Apparently, first exposure was at film festival. Guess Naomi had itch for artistic endeavours. Plotless. Silly sex scenes. Does reveal hectic activities of someone trying to become a "star", so in that way, film did serve a purpose.

Interesting, but not really much of a movie. I did like it and Naomi Watts did a good job and looked great. The movie itself didn't look so great but it held my interest.

While this indie comedy about the misadventures of an Aussie actress trying to make it big in Hollywood is a bit overlong, muddled and self-indulgent but Naomi Watts (who plays the title character) gives another great turn and there are some really funny scenes. Chevy Chase is also suprisingly good in a small but cast-against-type role as Ellie's agent. It's not great but it is an alright watch.

Shot piecemeal over around five years, Ellie Parker is a pseudo-biographical account of one actress' attempts to 'make it' in the movie world.
Naomi Watts is our tragic heroine here, again turning in a superbly real performance, most tellingly in that before David Lynch had the insightfulness to grant her the lead in Mulholland Drive, most of Parker WAS her life. Unlike her 'pro-creativity' best friend, Parker is a method actress, requiring her to put herself through abject trauma in order to land herself a role. This aspect of the storytelling is the lynchpin for the movie's plot, highlighting not only the difficulty of balancing life and art, but also the poisonous nature of Hollywood, an industry that profits from people's pain.
In this regard, the film is also funnier than you'd expect, seeing Watts changing clothes and perfecting accents for trashy roles whilst driving to casting auditions!
Coupled with this are her unreliably moronic boyfriend and fling with a 'hot-shot' producer, which serve to make Parker's life worse, which of course conversely helps her acting!
Perhaps the best satire since The Player, and a decent comparion piece to the mighty Mulholland Drive.

This is actually the coolest low, low budget film I've ever seen (not that that's saying a helluva lot I guess!!) But it's fairly funny and put together enough that it was definitely worth seeing, I might even buy it if I can find it that is, as it's not exactly a big film!

Naomi Watts is wonderful, particularly when playing Ellie's auditions (bless he heaart Ellie's not much of an actress) but rest of this DV shot movie is teeth grindingly annoying. Horribly played and written and packed with the most obvious set of 'insights' into Hollywood you'll ever see. JUST worth it for a BIG Watts fan though.

This is one of those love-it-or-hate-it type films. If you are an actor (or you know one, like me), you'll definitely relate to this.
