Empire of Dreams is a well crafted in depth documentary that chronicles the making of the original Star Wars Trilogy. The film features interviews from all those involved in the making of the trilogy, and features plenty of behind the scenes footage. Fans will certainly love this documentary as it is the definitive work on the trilogy. The films have changed the way films are made, and Empire of Dreams is a terrific documentary that gives you the big story of the trilogy. I really loved this documentary, and the amount of content displayed on-screen. The interviews are interesting and entertaining. Star Wars is a milestone in the cinematic medium, and this documentary is a must see for Die Hard fans of the original trilogy. In terms of a documentary, this is a flawless picture that is engaging from start to finish. As well as a making of the trilogy, the film also tells the story about how George Lucas became one of the most ambitious filmmakers in the industry. I've seen plenty of making of documentaries about Star Wars, but Empire of Dreams is the film to watch. Of course the newer trilogy is decent, and nothing compared to the original films and in this one, we get to see a bit of the prequels that are mentioned, but not elaborated upon. The original Star Wars trilogy is for me, one of the most exciting sci fi action films ever to be put on film. Even with all the touch ups that Lucas has done since the release of special edition and Blu Ray versions of the films, the appeal of Star Wars is still there for audiences to enjoy and with the bar that has been set in terms of filmmaking after the release of the original films, Star Wars has a reputation in being one of the greatest films in the genre.

Two words for those who were not interested: Pfff! Suckers!

They miss things out which you wanna know more about cos they spend all the time on New Hope. I would love to know more about Jedi and the Jabba scenes, Sarlacc, Jabba's palace etc...they always seem to focus on the same certain scenes.
I think three seperate features dedicated to each film would of been better, all about the same length and with all the deleted scenes from each film :)
Good but still not perfect.

Fantastic documentary. I could watch it over and over again.

Interesting documentary if you're a true Star Wars geek, but if that's the case chances are you know most of what this documentary throws at you. Lots of cool archival footage though. I saw it once the trilogy came out on DVD (the first time) and haven't seen it since.

Ooooh. Making of. Kinda neat I suppose.

Good. Has lots of fascinating footage from the production of the original series and adds a new element to appreciating Star Wars - especially A New Hope. My only complaint is that in trying to cover the mammoth entity of Star Wars in one film, this doc ends up a little unbalanced.… More

My only complaint is that in trying to cover the mammoth entity of Star Wars in one film, this doc ends up a little unbalanced. Return of the Jedi is merely an afterthought.

An interesting look behind the scenes of one of the greatest movie trillogies of all time.
