Anthony LaPaglia, Debi Mazar, Liv Tyler, Rory Cochrane, Brendan Sexton III

This story about a day in the life of an independent record store, truly a threatened species, screeches with the sound of teenagers falling apart emotionally every five minutes. The script, which fee...( read more  read more... )ls like an old guy's idea of how kids talk and think, concerns the young employees of a Delaware music shop faced with imminent extinction. While the ship is sinking, the staff indulge in tantrums, depressions, and run-ins with low self-esteem. There's a lot of noise in this thing, but not a lot is really said. Rory Cochrane has the best part as a secretive guy who loses the store's proceeds one night while gambling, Anthony LaPaglia is the adult boss and unofficial dad to the others, Renée Zellweger plays a promiscuous girl, and Liv Tyler is OK as a lovestruck sweet thing trying to get up the nerve to express her feelings to a fellow employee. --Tom Keogh

So my power has been out for six days and I nearly froze to death in my own house - I fucking hate California sometimes - and I tell you this because the first website I check when I get my electricity back is Flixster. What the hell is wrong with me?

Anyway, I thought this was...( read more) a thoroughly crappy movie but it kind of grew on me. The drama parts worked a hell of a lot better than the tired-ass comedy, even if they were cliched and kind of random. The whole movie is structured really bizarrely. I guess it's worth a watch if you have this overwhelming nostalgia for mediocre films of the mid-1990s, though.

Also, I'm in love with Ethan Embry. Why does he not have a career? Hollywood is so cruel.

This was a classic teen movie from the 90's. The film has such a great young cast. I thought actor Rory Cochrane, Liv Tyler and Ethan Embry were great in their roles. The film is about a independent record store trying to stay open. Also you get the stories inbetween with the tee...( read more)nagers who work there. A fun film that makes for some mindless entertainment. Plus the film has a great soundtrack. Well worth a watch.
