Jesus talk about ruining the book and totally messing up the plot. The acting was terrible and the only thing i really enjoyed was the graphics on the dragon.
this is a horrid creation of hollywood's movie producers. it completely ruined any chance for a sequal (thank goodness). im not giving it a rating because it doesn't deserve one.
I actually saw this only because everyone's been raving about it, saying it's the next Harry Potter and all.
Okay now... WHAT??
This was enjoyable only because the dragon is cute and pleasant to look at, otherwise it just feels like repetition where this guy has a dragon and he needs to hide it or else he'll die because this weird dark lord is after him... oh boohoo! We don't care!!
But then again, it was enjoyable and a nice waste of time.
If you like the harry potter movies you'll probably like this, as well as the chronicles of narnia and all those movies dealing with magical creatures and problems that seem impossible to solve - but oh joy! There's always a solution in the movie industry! No sarcasm intended :)
Unbelievably not interested in the slightest. Something really irritates me about a kid who rips off bits of every classic fantasy tale, gets deemed 'talented' and cuts a huge book / movie / video game deal. I mean c'maon - even the name is only one letter away from Aragon....
They completely ruined the book and I WILL NOT watch this movie.
UPDATE okay, I was forced to halfway watch the movie, everytime I looked up (once every minute or two) they got the story wrong. It was pathetic, monkeys with typewriters could have done a better job.
A disaster! The book is a waste of paper! The film is a waste of just about everything else! I'd feed it to the dog but I'm afraid the poor thing would spoil its digestion.
A very bad adaptation of the book, distorting the facts of the book at most of the places. Just getting a little hype due to the famous book and little bit good graphics. Shaphira looks fantastic in the film.
It's ok... but if it were longer they could fit some stuff that I really missed. I think some of the deleted scenes were crucial... but maby thats just me =)
Hello. This is Star Wars! This kid was not original. An orphan boy with a questionable background is being raised by his uncle. The old peaceful world is no longer because the old school power took it over by killing off all the other old school power guys. He randomly runs into something special that causes his family to be hunted down and killed so he runs off with a hermit that can teach him the old ways. He saves a princess and gives hope back to the rebellion. COME ON PEOPLE!
I LOVED this movie, despite no wanting to see it in the first place i eventually did and am really suprised.
The story is an interesting one and hooks you right from the start. I am not usually a fan of 'zero to hero in a day' type movies but this one somewhat pulled it off, Mostly because the audience thinks this story is taking place over a period of time.
I love the olden day setting, it gave the movie a legends place in time feel.
I was however slightly dissapointed in the dragon as a telepathic. The idea is great, only have the rider able to communicate with it. but the followthrough i think could have been done much better and it made for some silly scenes with them intently staring into each others eyes having an indepth with people around... not good.
the graphics make an awesome companion to this movie and i will definitly be holding out for the next one.
This movie sucked. The storyline was WAY too fast and the graphics sucked. The director should have at least taken a bit more time on the beginning and what not. And they should've added more fighting scenes.
If you take Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars, mix them all up, and shake out the contents through a strainer inorder to drop all the good stuff, you get eragon.
A just ok movie based on a just ok book(which i've read btw). I got the feeling that they spent most of the budget on making the dragon look great, which it does, at the expense of making the rest of the film look shipshawed. For example where are the orc-type creatures? i just saw fat guys in black makeup. Also they downplayed or completely left out the more interesting parts of the book. Oh well.
awesome dragon movie, I cant wait to see the second one. I want to get in to reading the seres because with a movie this good their has to be a good book. Also In my top five movies of all times.
As a film independant from the books it was entertaining. The story was barely recognisable from the books with characters, scenes and whole events changed to try to keep it a fast tempo fantasy film. However, I did feel that the plot was rather rushed. As a film it was better than the Harry Potter films but that can barely be considered a compliment. When watching this movie, if you have read the book, it is best to forget everything you know (and enjoy) about the story and take this film at face value.
