This movie was wicked! I loved the dragon and the whole medieval aspect of the story. It entertained to the very end with great twists and suspense.

  • September 9, 2009
I liked the book but for some reason this movie makes a huge leap in the story just to make due to action pack parts.
  • September 9, 2009
Completely mangled the book beyond all recognition.
  • September 7, 2009
The books are awesome, but this movie sucks.
It's time to make a new movie or triology from the books.

the special effects are magical but that's pretty the only good thing about the film. The acting was bad, dialogue was horrid and the pacing makes you wanna say "hurry up already!"

The best high fantasy movie I have seen in a long time, I'm talkin since 1987 (The Princess Bride :p)! I am not really a fantasy fan to begin with, and I was quite skeptical because of how many ppl were saying it was pretty much A New Hope over again. But it was different enough ...( read more)that it felt like its own story, and I may not have even noticed if I hadnt been told ahead of time (ok, I probably would have noticed when Saphira said, "You would have met the same fate.") If on purpose or not doesnt really matter to me, I enjoyed it a lot.

makes you wish you had a dragon to fly too
  • August 28, 2009
The books are OK, this movie was far from OK. Not so good acting and directing that was much needed to turn a book like this into a successful movie.
  • August 26, 2009
For those who read the book, this movie is really poor. Anwyays it's well done, althought the story is not well told and it's not too interesting anyways.
  • August 26, 2009
As a movie itself it gets almost 3...As the book fan I'd say to redo it!
  • August 25, 2009
As is the case a good part of the time, the book was much better.
  • August 24, 2009
    Eyes bleeding... make it stop!
  • August 22, 2009
The movie is one thing, the book another. Prefer the book.

Efeknya keren banget (bener...( read more)-bener hidup! cocok pula dengan suara dubber'nya).
Di lain sisi, aku sempet nyesel waktu liat aktor-aktornya. Kesannya, mereka kurang menjiwai karakter mereka dan ekspresi mereka masih terlalu kaku. Moga aja mereka lebih banyak berlatih biar gak mengecewakan diriku dan pecinta karya Christopher Paolini lainnya.

  • August 17, 2009
I should have read the book. I know I should. The movie was very nice, even tho the actions were expectable. However, I had a good time watching it.
  • August 15, 2009
Kind of so-so. Obviously targeted to younger audiences, it made short work of character development and some of the editing decisions destroyed the pacing of the film. Sequels could be better.
  • August 14, 2009

Did NO justice to the book!
  • August 8, 2009
Apparently, the movie was meant to be disappointing for the people who have read the book before watching it, but I haven't read the book so I wouldn't know...
  • August 8, 2009

  • August 5, 2009
Would have been better if the didn't cut so much stuff from the book. But was still good.
  • August 5, 2009
Lol the dialogue is so funny. Oh, wait, this isn't a comedy?? Oops!
But really, the script is atrocious.
  • August 3, 2009
    A good teenage movie.
The characters are well developed, the storyline is good and tha animations are handled well. It is all set up for the sequel.
    Worth a watch.

wow the guy is cute ts amazing

Given that the story is based on a novel written by a sixteen year old at the time, the shades of familiarity stem from something on a grander scale. The cast is quite spectacular, though I'm a bit surprised that Jeremy Irons is in the movie. Some of you would have known h...( read more)e starred in the grand daddy of fantasy realms - Dungeons and Dragons, but unfortunately, that movie bombed. Robert Carlyle as chief villain in this installment is your typical over the top overconfident bad guy and he's the one with the inappropriate funny lines, which seem to repeat themselves over and over again. John Malkovich is a complete waste as the evil King, and as villains, repeat themselves ad nauseam. Perhaps as a hint, the filmmakers have reigned him in to unleash more mayhem in the sequels. Saphira the dragon is designed beautifully enough though, given the last celebrity voiced dragon we saw was in Dragonheart, provided by Sean Connery. Eragon clocks in at way under 2 hours, which is hardly material enough to consider it an epic. Given the shortened run time, there are various bits on the character's learning and development of abilities which seemed very rushed and summarized even, making it feel very choppy. However, as with all first movies of the trilogy, it's the establishment of who's who and what's what, so hopefully, if a sequel pulls through, that it'll be way better than this one.
