Did NO justice to the book!
  • August 8, 2009
Apparently, the movie was meant to be disappointing for the people who have read the book before watching it, but I haven't read the book so I wouldn't know...

Given that the story is based on a novel written by a sixteen year old at the time, the shades of familiarity stem from something on a grander scale. The cast is quite spectacular, though I'm a bit surprised that Jeremy Irons is in the movie. Some of you would have known h...( read more)e starred in the grand daddy of fantasy realms - Dungeons and Dragons, but unfortunately, that movie bombed. Robert Carlyle as chief villain in this installment is your typical over the top overconfident bad guy and he's the one with the inappropriate funny lines, which seem to repeat themselves over and over again. John Malkovich is a complete waste as the evil King, and as villains, repeat themselves ad nauseam. Perhaps as a hint, the filmmakers have reigned him in to unleash more mayhem in the sequels. Saphira the dragon is designed beautifully enough though, given the last celebrity voiced dragon we saw was in Dragonheart, provided by Sean Connery. Eragon clocks in at way under 2 hours, which is hardly material enough to consider it an epic. Given the shortened run time, there are various bits on the character's learning and development of abilities which seemed very rushed and summarized even, making it feel very choppy. However, as with all first movies of the trilogy, it's the establishment of who's who and what's what, so hopefully, if a sequel pulls through, that it'll be way better than this one.

Absolute crap! The WORST adaption from a book I have EVER EVER seen! They kill, murder and slay the books till there ain't nothing left. This director the whole company don't know what the fuck they're doing! The dragon flying sequences were breathtaking tho. But the casting is ...( read more)terrible, the story is shit, there's no substance. You can't FEEL for these characters. In my opinion Saphira (Rachel Weiss) and Garret Hedlund were the best things in the movie. I plan to remake this one day.

  • July 12, 2009
    I was a little disappointed
  • July 11, 2009
It's OK. It doesn't match the brilliant (and huge) novel which it was based on, but Eragon is still fairly good.

Though based on an overrated book and with a run-time that was far shorter than it should have been, how can you not like massive medieval battles, scorcery and CG dragons? The acting was not superb, but it wasn't terrible. Dialogue was so-so. I have not read the books this film ...( read more)was based on, but it seemed a little rushed to me. It could easily have gone another 45 minutes and gotten some more sub-story in. If nothing else, it made me want to check out the books so I could get the full story. No word has been made on finishing the trilogy for the silver screen, but a second film would have some catching up and improving to do from the first. Still, worth watching again. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the fantasy genre.

    This movie was good.
  • July 7, 2009
i want to ride his dragon too!!!
  • July 7, 2009
Did not do the book or the author of the book Justice. It needs help but watchable.
  • July 7, 2009
    Wasn't what i was expecting
  • July 6, 2009
If there was originality in the book, it seems to have been lost here. If, for film, they needed to distill down to the major plot-points of the book, it essentially was "I am a farmboy who rides dragons. They are quite rare, you know. Oh, whats that, the realm needs saving?" If ...( read more)there was some uniqueness in the story, they probably cut it off as useless fat.
  • July 6, 2009
lastima que lo hicieron apresurada la pelicula.
  • July 5, 2009
wasn't accurate to the book, the summery of the first book had more detail
  • July 4, 2009
I was expecting this to be terrible, but it was worse than I could've imagined. The characters and plot are empty and adhere to a generic formula for are fantasy series. Everything's been done before, and better.
  • July 4, 2009
This movie is unfortunately too obviously influenced by the release of the Lord Of the Rings trilogy. And by a story that could have been ten times better if handled properly. The end REALLY sucks, because there will be no sequel.
  • July 2, 2009
Good enough. Pretty Epic. A little odd.
  • July 1, 2009
It sucked! Sucked, sucked, sucked! Terrible compared to the book! It skipped entire chapters! I was like what the hell is going on here??
  • July 1, 2009
    some stupid dragon movie....???
