A hilarious Viking tale told in a very Monty Python-esque way, courtesy of director (and former Python member) Terry Jones. Tim Robbins puts in some of his best work here - from back in the days when he wasn't so serious - and he is perfectly cast as Erik. The entire sup...( read more)porting cast works just as well.

I know a lot of people (especially on my Friends list) have this one rated "Not Interested", but if you like comedies - especially in the vein of Monty Python - I recommend you give this a chance. But here's the tricky part:

Do not... I repeat DO NOT watch the US DVD release version (the "Director's Son's Cut"). It will make a horrible first impression. It has been re-edited and hacked up and has all but ruined the comedy and pacing of the movie (and is almost a full half-hour shorter!!). Track down the original VHS or LD - hell, I'll send you a copy! (* for you UK people, the original cut is available on DVD there - I'm so jealous!)

This was a funny film. Great cast. Had Monty Python humor in the film. Funny take on the Norse Gods.

Ok, I saw this... I was quite disappointed. I spent a lot of time looking at the screen with a "wth" kind of look on my face. I thought it would be much better.
