i liked the series better than the movie. Hitomi's character changed, i can remember she wasn't suicidal on the series. the series was more fun, and due to a limited time (film), much of the characters identity were lost. i suggest you watch first the series before you watch the ...( read more)movie.

way better than the series, though you should see the series too, it'll help explain a bit, but it's not needed. andrew francis rocked in this one as dilandau.

The Teenage romantic story sucks, but if you get past that, then the battle sequences, the soundtrack & the scenery of Gaya (the parallel world in which the story takes place) are inspiring.
The movie also suffers from the same problem all the movie adaptations of popular anime ...( read more)series do; there are too many characters to be fully developed in a 90 minutes feature film & the directors can't decide to put some of those characters aside because they're afraid of the fan's reaction. The result, as always, is characters & even plot twists which seem illogical to a viewer who hasn't seen the series.

Come to think of it, if anime directors could solve that problem, maybe anime movies have had a far more mainstream fanbase that they do now.
