Nice try but nowhere near as good as the original. As usual for a John Capenter movie it has some great concepts but it's very difficult to catch lightning in a bottle once, let alone twice.

Now let's set the prison in a post, quake LA where it's like the future and somehow it's an island prison thing again. That will work. Carpenter ist have been smoking something.

I know we're not supposed to take these "Escape..." films too seriously, but this one goes beyond the willing suspension of disbelief. The action sequences are soooo ludicrous as to be past laughable, and the CGI thoughout the movie is so atrocious that it's actually a distraction. Kurt Russell being so cool is the only saving grace this flick has.

Silly, cheesy, intended? Bruce Campbel had too small of a part (as usual). CG was bad. fun all around; hang gliding, surfing, treadmills...

not bad, i prefer the fist one, this one was basically the same story but with more gangs , a bit far fetched at times and the cheeky comments did not help the film at all!

Truly awful, how can so many great actors think this was going to be a good film? It was basically a remake of the first film except with loads of terrible special effects and crap acting, apart from Steve Buscemi but even he couldn't save this film from being shit. I'm a huge John Carpenter fan but it was a silly film to make and how the hell Valeria Golino ever got a film role ever i'll never know.

As horrible as I honestly know this move was, it was still entertaining enough for one to sit through the whole thing and actually enjoy it.

The really wasn't a need for a sequel. It just seems like Carpenter tried to remake the original because he had more money. It still is pretty entertaining.

This is what Van Sant's PSYCHO was to Hitchcock's original.

However, this film is the one exception to the rule "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". A lot more fun than the timeless classic predecessor. The cast again is perfect, complete with cult movie connoisseur.

Or whatever the word is. I also happen to think that this film rocks my favourite score of all time.

Not bad sequel. Kurt Russell is brilliant as ever as Snake and the rest of the cast are quite good too. But what lets it down is the bad CGI. It's also not dark enough, too much comedy. But worth a watch, plus has a great ending, which leaves an opening for another sequel.

Pretty much the same happens again but i preferred this one to the original because it is more stylish and the effects are way better than in the first one.

Stars Kurt Russell, Steve Buschemi, Valeria Golino and Pam Grier.

Directed once again by John Carpenter.

President: You'll be given a full pardon for every moral crime you've committed in the United States.
    Snake Plissken: Sounds familiar.

A fan of Carpenter/Russell collaborations has to be torn about this film. It has that initial factor, but it is also a rehash of the same movie they made years prior, only with a higher budget for effects and the change to Los Angeles.

Same basic plot here, Snake is back, he's been captured and is given a chance for freedom, provided he recovers a special government item. Snake is even tricked into being given something that will kill him if he isn't fast enough.

Before Russell went on to be Stuntman Mike in Death Proof, this was a film containing the same Grindhouse quality. It is an over-the-top campy ride that is not at all serious, especially compared to the first.

Further helping this film is its supporting cast, which includes: Steve Buscemi, Stacy Keach, Bruce Campbel, Pam Grier, Robert Carradine, and Peter Fonda as a surfer.

    [facing four gunmen at once]
Snake Plissken: I'm gonna give you assholes a chance. What do you say we play a little Bangkok Rules?
[picks up a tin can. The four gunmen back up and get ready]
Snake Plissken: Nobody draws until this hits the ground.
[throws the can high into the air, then pulls his revolvers and kills all four gunmen before the can lands. Can hits the ground]
    Snake Plissken: Draw.

Carpenter's style of film is once again present, but the fact that almost everything is the same doesn't really help. Its good to know that Russell had a lot of fun getting to play this character again, because he is what holds the movie together.

It works well enough, but only the original is necessary.

Duty Sergeant: What would you say to all of us who believed in you, who looked up to you, who thought you stood for right over wrong, good over evil? Be my guest. What do you have to say, Plissken?
    Snake Plissken: Call me Snake.

A fórmula do primeiro é de sucesso logo o mestre Carpenter resolve repetir a dose. Gostei mais deste que o primeiro fazendo crer que o primeiro foi um teste para a versão final. Um clássico do cinema com personagens inesquecíveis.

amazing, i think the action scenes are imaginitive and original and it was really well made i think that kurt russell pulled it of playing snake i thought he was really good at playing snake Plissken, the special effects are really good throughout the movie...this has a good cast of actors/actressess throughout the movie this is really enjoyable 2 watch but imn not sure which is the best 1 this or the 1st 1 because they are both so enjoyable movies 2 watch throughout because the director keeps the viewers on the edge of your seats throughout the movie because he keeps you guessing whats going 2 happen next n its really enjoyable 2 sit through n watch..this is really a whole load of funn

A passable action movie with a sickly plot, mediocre-to-bad acting, and some outright silly scenes (basketball and surfing come to mind). Apart from that, just about all that can be said is:

    Welcome to the human race.

Set in the future where poeple are simply out of control I think this could really happen. I recognise a few of those plastic surgery ghouls already-man, why do people do that to themselves??
Anyway, this is the 2nd time round for Kurt doing the impossible, it's just the other side of the country this time.

This is an okay action movie. It is basically the same thing as the first film but with better fx and some humor. I personally think Kurt is better this time around as Snake!

This second movie was as good as the first movie. Kurt Russell was very surly but I suppose that he had to be for the role, very interesting!!
