  First thoughts on The Tomb: [IMG]http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/251173_278869385563330_511279028_n.jpg[/IMG] Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are two of the biggest icon in the action genre giving us of the best films and characters in the genre with the likes of Terminator and Rambo. It was only a matter time when we would see these two action legends on screen together in The Exendables films, but it was not the best collaboration for such actors as Schwarzenegger didn't have a significant role in those films. Well Mikael Hafstrom's The Tomb fixes that problem by bringing both actors together for what many in the action community hoping will be a film worthy of the action icons collaboration. The Tomb follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world's foremost authority on structural security. He's analyzed nearly every high security prison. After being framed by persons unknown, all of Breslin's ingenuity and expertise are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he's ever faced: escaping from a high-tech prison facility that's design is based on his own protocols. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Emil Rottmayer,a complex inmate with multiple shades of gray. He's the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive. The premise sounds interesting and is an original idea which hopefully should help it gather some attention with audiences desperately seeking an original experience. I could really see the plot working and given Arnold track record with the sci-fi genre raises my expectations for the film. Although, that's where the excitement ends and the concern begins with those involve behind the camera don't have much experience in this kind of genre. [IMG]http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s480x480/68782_278869545563314_1347228828_n.jpg[/IMG] The main issue being writers Miles Chapman and Jason Keller both of which lack experience in the action genre and theatrical films in general. Miles Chapman whose only feature film as a writer is Road House 2: Last Call which is in itself is a passionless rehash and a necessary sequel to Road House. Though to his credit he is an executive producer of A Good Day To Die Hard so he's gaining experience in the action genre. As for Jason Keller who rewrote the script has nothing worth seeing on his resume which consist of a forgettable television movie, Machine Gun Preacher, and Mirror Mirror. None of these movies gives confidence for a worth while plot that will take advantage of its interesting premise. As for director Mikael Hafstrom who does have two well receive films under his name with 1408 and Evil (Ondskan). Which aren't bad films, but this is the same director who gave us The Rite (2012) and Derailed (2005). Which means the movie has a 50/50 chance of being good. The Tomb might be good, or might be bad, but either way I'm still excited to see it. It's about time that these two action icon made a movie together and hopefully could match or surpass the icons best movies.
