Another head movie, dark, offbeat, with Jim playing a mostly serious role. Brilliantly done, though Kirsten Dunst does her usual "Look at my Whitey Tighties" that she seems to do in every other movie

MCT:May 13, 2008This is the story of a guy, Joel, who discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine, has undergone a psychiatrist's experimental procedure in which all of her memory of Joel is removed, after the couple has tried for years to get their relationship working fluidly. Frustrated by the idea of still being in love with a woman who doesn't remember their time together, Joel agrees to undergo the procedure as well, to erase his memories of Clementine. The film, which takes place mostly within Joel's mind, follows his memories of Clementine backwards in time as each recent memory is replaced, and the procedure then goes on to the previous one, which is likewise seen, and then erased. Once the process starts, however, Joel realizes he doesn't really want to forget Clementine, so he starts smuggling her away into parts of his memory where she doesn't belong which alters other things about his memories as well...
I've put this into my "Disappointing Movies" list, purely based on the fact everyone calls this a masterpiece yet I thought it was terrible.
Ugh. It just annoyed me. A waste of two hours, or however long it was.
If someone can tell me why people consider this a masterpiece, please do. Because I'm clueless. -
MCT:May 12, 2008awesome! it took a little while to get used to, but fantastic performances all round, with this being one of the first of jim carey's movies i actually really liked! beautiful, but really sad story, would definitely recommend to people looking for a mind-boggling and very unique movie.

MCT:May 12, 2008Scénario intelligent et très original de Charlie Kaufman (encore une fois). Réalisation très efficace et très délirante de Michel Gondry. Interprétations très convaincantes de Jim Carrey et de Kate Winslet. Une autre preuve que le cinéma a encore quelque chose d'original à nous donner.

This movie is wonderful. The first I'd ever seen with Jim Carrey playing a serious role. He and Kate Winslet are great in this. Anyone who likes a good story with different elements may like this :)

I think this the most well written movie I've ever seen. I have never seen Jim Carrey performing like this. Kate Winslet was great too. One extra thing you have to spot in the movie is the music. The music was really great, Jon Brion did a great job.

This is my absolute favorite movie of all time. It's perfectly shot by Michel Gondry.. a director that I'm sure to keep tabs on.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen, Jim Carrey's best work to date. I think some day this movie will be truely reconginzed for its brilliance and Jim Carrey will be recognized for his overlooked acting abilities.

For some reason lots of my friends liked this particular movie, but it just really didn't do much for me. Maybe I liked it better the first time I saw it before I got my brain erased. *Smirk*
