Three (Eva Gabor) is a spirited young Hungarian woman who is feeling out of sorts after she breaks up with her boyfriend. Three becomes restless and begins wandering from one Budapest neighborhood to another, talking to the people she meets along the way. However, what she hears from many of these strangers disturbs her; the anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian revolution is on the horizon, but while many fellow Hungarians want to mark the occasion, Three is troubled by the way right wing factions have hijacked the history of the revolution and are spinning it to promote discrimination against the Romani community. As Three struggles to heal her heart, she also tries to spread a message of truth and tolerance amidst a wave of ugly lies. Europa, East received its world premiere at the 2010 Rotterdam International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
