Lindy Chamberlin: "The dingo took my baby!" words forever etched in the Australian cultural psyche. A great courtroom drama film and a terrific performance by the incomparable Meryl, who had to play not only an Australian accent but also with a hint of A New Zealand accent refle...( read more)cting the background of Lindy Chamberlain.

Absorbing true life drama about one of the most controversial murder cases in Australian history. Film's dissection of how the media shapes the "truth" should be mandatory viewing for any reporter. Meryl Streep, in an Oscar nominated part, gives a subtle, even-handed performanc...( read more)e that proves she is one of the greatest actresses....ever.

Tearjerker, profoundly didactic and yet Streep transforms Schepisi's dry, frustrating wrath into a dynamic noise,a justifying presence,an effect only real actresses like her possess.

This is one of those films that I shockingly remember from watching it the first time around.
Meryl Streep is fantastic in this film, very impressive!

A CRY IN THE DARK is an extremely well told, deeply involving drama.

Director Fred Schepisi is excellent in the directors' seat, as is Meryl Streep in the lead role, proving once again why she's an acting legend. Her portrayal of Lindy Chamberlain is chillingly perfect.

After watching this movie and Meryl Streeps portrayal of Lindy Chamberlain i can now understand why Lindy was accused of murdering her daughter Azaria. To me Lindy appeared heartless and emotionless,i never once felt sorry for her throughout the movie but i did feel sorry for her...( read more) two sons and of course baby Azaria who was left in an open tent at ground level even though her mother knew there were mice running around a few feet from her,not to mention the dingos. I even felt sorry for the second daughter,it was not the right time for Lindy to have another baby when she knew there was a good chance she could be going to jail. People say Lindy didnt play the sympathy card, well no she didnt but that was because she was too busy performing in the Media Circus.

Overall this movie was interesting but it did not blow me away,it played like a TV movie.
