Every character in this film, except Failan, is a jerk. It's filled with unlikeables yet somehow manages to manipulate a few pretty strong melodramatic moments. "Oldboy" Min-sik Choi is a master technician at melodrama. In the end, however, it seems very cheap, and worst of all ....( read more)

Failan...... very symbolic and dark film.... (like most Choi Min Sik films).... it's a surprisingly enigmatic film... the woman character symbolises many things, from purity to beauty, innocence to vain love... in the context of the dark, realistic background....

Great acting from the two leads. Probably the best drama/romance movie i've ever seen...but I hear there are other more amazing korean drama romances. Not your typical stupid hollywood crap. The ending stays with you.
