One of a kind movie that will sure awaken single guys who has no plan of getting married, but just laid...Grow up!
Amusing flick with a bit of a twist. Lightweight vehicle that was entertaining about a guy who's parents bought him a girlfriend.

Tripp is a man in his thirties who still lives with his parents. His parents hire Paula to get him to move out. The film manages the set-up, but forgets to fill in the romance.
Matthew McConaughey as Tripp is off-putting to watch, and his accent so thick it is often difficult to understand what he is saying - and baffling, since no one else in the film, including his parents, share his accent. As for the character, he isn't given a personality or any depth, except for a sledge-hammered back story about a dead fiancée, which is dropped in towards the end of the film, despite it not fitting with the character, no one having mentioned or reacted to it before, and it having no effect on the wooden Tripp. Paula repeatedly mentions how sweet Tripp is, but this sweetness must be going on off screen, as on screen he is constantly a jerk. There is also no chemistry between Tripp and Paula which makes the so-called romance hard to notice. If it is there at all.
Paula is given even less personality than Tripp. All the audience know about her is that she gets men to move out of their parents' home professionally. She only refers to Tripp in terms of the job, so when after about half an hour the audience has to be told Paula has feelings for Tripp, it is a surprise. It certainly isn't in the performance or the dialogue. It would help if she were seen to do her job before being hired in to help Tripp. As it is, it is very confusing how she is so successful. She fails to understand that Tripp chooses to live with his parents due to his fear of commitment, despite it being obvious and this being her job, she doesn't do any research into his background, she gets caught out when his friend Ace catches her with another client and she instantly confesses, how has she never had to deal with this situation before? And realising she is failing in her job, she sleeps with Tripp - for money. She becomes a prostitute, and doesn't bat an eyelid. How is this not an important plot development? Her entire desire for Tripp (which the audience is told, not shown) seems to be because before now, all her clients have been fat nerds.
If Tripp's parents are so desperate to get him out of their house, why do they do all his chores for him? This fundamental issue just sets the tone of the film not really making sense. The scenes in which Tripp is attacked by a chipmunk/dolphin/lizard seem to have wandered in from a different genre, and fail to amuse. However, the scene in which Kit, Paula’s housemate, tries to buy a gun is very funny, the only funny moment of the film, mainly due to the performance by the salesman (Rob Corddry).
At the end of the film, Tripp and Paula's friends decide to get them together, so tie Tripp up and lock him in a cupboard and then trap Paula in the house so they'll have to talk. Admittedly this situation has high comic potential, but there is no relationship between Tripp and Paula. She only dated him as part of her job, for money, and he only dated her for a bit of fun, he wasn't interested in a relationship. He randomly admits he cares about her, which prompts the audience to ask, "Since when?" It hasn't been on screen. At all. Even before he knew she was being paid he tried to dump her.
As for the supporting cast, Kathy Bates as Tripp's mum hams it up and Zooey Deschanel as Paula's housemate phones in her usual tediously bored performance - this is obviously her selling point, but strangely enough, a bored actor is boring to watch.
Basically, Failure To Launch is an entirely disengaging film and forgets to actually put any romance in between the set-up and the finale.

as soo much a movie has a great looking face and good production,we shouldn't forget that we have to make an impact on the public.I would love to see it
Uhmm a movie so interesting because Jessica, did a amazing actuations at the same time that Mateww
same same same dat u cant say shame shame shame 2 directors n producers wasting so much money n time in making a film which has a dead story...screenplay is dull..sarah looks hot but stuck in carey bradshaw 4eva..neways jus one time watch
this is the worst movie ever!! they have no chemisty what so ever. its pathetic. matthew is sexy but not sexy enough to save the world from sarah jessica parker playing carrie bradshaw... over and over. shes so stuck in that character its not funny.
While the film had it's [albeit few] funny moments, the film is far too predictable to really maintain any level of interest past the first act.
omg sooo good...and the guy is a hottie...her housemate is absolutely awesome...great film! its a must see!!
