I didnt really like this movie..I found it kinda embarrassing in some bits..I think the movie would of been better if Sarah Jessica Parker wasnt lead actress..She is only good in sex and the city anything else um no..I will give her 5/5 for the paintball scene though! GO GIRL lol..
It's not a bad movie at all. I didn't think it would be that great nor that funny but it was. It had a nice little story to it - far out, but nice. There were some continuity problems that I found and I could have done without seeing Terry Bradshaw's nasty, cheesy, dimpled ass but it was still good.
For those of you out there that watch Family Guy, you might remember this little skit: Peter claims how tough he is and says "I made it half way through Failure to Launch". As he sits, watching the screen, Matthew McConaughey says "I just never managed to get my life together... isn't that hilarious" and then Sarah Jessica Parker giggles and says "You're cute". After this line, Peter stands up, throws his arms up in the arm and goes "Done!" and walks out.
i love this movie, totally recommend it...it's soooo funny, and i love justin bartha sooooo much, he's soooo funny...the part with the mocking bird is hilarious!!!!
he is one big animal cookie. after you see this that sentence will make since. besides that, this movie surprised me becuz it didn't suck. it was actually very good...and her roomie was the shit.
It was a pretty funny movie. My favorite parts were with the bird. :P Anyways, it's definitely far from being Academy Award winning, but still, a very funny movie to watch. I also really liked the overall plot. Very creative, and the scenes were a good setup, like the paintball scene.
Undoubtably the "Failure to launch" was intended to describe the inability for men to leave the Parental home and not the actual movie. But it was a very hard conclusion to draw because this movie is simply put just not good.
Ah ha but if its that bad why the 1 and a half star I hear you all cry? Well I did enjoy Zooey Deschanel character (Kit) and Justin Bartha was very cute in this especially within a very funny scene involving the kiss of life on a mockingbird shot with a bebe gun.
I wanted to punch SJP and matthew McConaughey is just like the same character from any other movie he has ever been in and frankly its getting boring and not proving his talents. How many time can one person play the charming, thrill loving, commitment phobe addicted to video games.
The actual plot is fairly original but having seen McConaughey's "How to lose a guy in 10 Days" I couldn't help feeling a lot of similarities and it just ruined it, making it feel like a slightly different rip off.
Good parts of the film were probably the animal attacks including a chipmunk bite, a dolphin bite and a lizard bite culminating in a 40 foot fall from some rocks.
Failure to launch indeed, Failure to provide good acting and a very good movie excellently succeeded!!
she tries to get "live-at- home-with parents-34ish-yearolds" out of the house by dating them,,which the parents higher her for, it's cute and a good ending
great movie; i <3 Justin Bartha! I love matthew mcconaughey bradley cooper and zooey deschannel, too & terry bradshaw, kathy bates & sarah jessica parker are great in this too!
On the movie-cover it said that this was a comedy... But id rather call it a drama-movie. Tripp (McConaughey) is a 35 year old living at home with his parents, his parents hire a woman named Paula (Parker) to get him out of the house. He is spoiled, arrogant and totally hot... Everything goes as planned when all suddenly Paula grows feelings for Tripp and the whole situation becomes twisted.... It was a good movie, allthou Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker are the big stars in this movie their caracthers fade away, I love Cooper's caracther (Riley, from National Treasure) more =D
Could Sarah Jessica Parker have looked less saxy in this movie. But Zooey Deschanel was such a cutie this gets 1 1/2 stars, seeing how Zooey was only in 30% of the movie.
